Hey wasup, I live in Chattananooga, Tennessee and I plan on going to one of these boarding schools as a day student next year. Chattanooga has two boarding schools and like 15 prep schools, so out of these two schools, which one has the most prestige? I've heard both, McCallie and Baylor, are well known across America, and there are a lot of borders that come from all around the world. They both have incredible athletic programs which would benefit me a lot, Baylor has a bit nicer and larger campus, so if you know these two schools, which one has better academics and prestige in your opinion?

hmm, well i was thinking about baylor because it seemed like a great school (not to mention a stellar fencing program) and they were offering places for midsemester. i havent visited the campus, but yeah, i guess ppl tend to look over the schools that arent in the new england area.

My three cousins have gone to Baylor. One went to Auburn, the other to U of Alabama and the 3rd is a junior. They all really liked/like it

I'm from the northeast. While I haven't heard of McCallie, I have heard good things about Baylor. McCallie is probably a great school, but I just don't remember hearing about it.

I've heard of Baylor.

I've got friends at both...I board at St. Andrew's-Sewanee School about an hour away in Sewanee, TN, and basically, they're both great schools, as is mine. The difference between Baylor and McCallie and my school are those two have a larger endowment, but to be frank, I've heard that boarding life at Baylor isn't so great and most the guys I know at McCallie aren't so fond of it. Look at SAS...I've been here for 3 years. You can do anything here if you really want to.

My son graduated from McCallie last year. He loved it! So much to offer as far as academics and athletics. As parents, we appreciated it being all boys. It never bother our son either. The teachers have perfected teaching to boys. The English teachers seem to pick books that boys will find interesting and will want to discuss. My son's class had an awsome list of college acceptances. One boy was accepted at Yale but chose UVa on full scholarship instead. Several went to Stanford, Penn, Georgetown, Cal Tech, Amherst etc. And several full scholarships to those and other schools. Also, Mccallie has beat Baylor for something like the last 9 years in football!

I'm from North Carolina and I've heard that Baylor was pretty nice from someone who went there. I would have applied this fall but decided i'd rather attend bs in New England.

I know some people who went to Baylor and really liked it. I live in North Carolina and would have applied to Baylor this fall but I decided that I'd rather go to bs in New England. Tennessee is a little too close to home for me.

I am a current McCallie student (a senior). If anyone has any questions about the school, Chattanooga, or even Baylor (they are our rivals, but I can probably answer any questions you may have), feel free to ask.
