Anyone here got into/ attending the School of Nursing and Health Studies?

How does it compare to Penn nursing school?

what is the acceptance rate ( if known)

i remember reading that u penn's program is the best in the nation while georgetown was either second or third... so georgetown has a great program. My grandmother went to NHS as a nursing major and she loved it! (but that was when nixon was president so things have definately changed since then) i think the NHS overall acceptance rate was 21% this year because it said on my acceptance letter that 105 ppl got in and ~500 applied

I'm a sophomore in NHS. For Nursing, I do believe NHS says that it shares many applicants with Penn Nursing. I'd say that Penn has better facilities for Nursing, as they have a larger building with more space and labs. If you got into both, and you want the best nursing education w/ the best facilities, go to Penn. However, if you want a top education as well as other areas, then consider Georgetown. NHS also has departments in International Health, Human Science, and Healthcare Management and Policy. These are areas that you can study that you might not be able to @ Penn. There is a Certificate in Population Health for Nursing students as well.

plese excuse my ignorence, but is the nhs school just for nurses?
i want to be pre-med and international health so should i apply to nhs?

I'm going to major in international health on the pre-med track so there are people who are not nursing majors.... i think there are 4 departments within NHS : nursing, health administration, human science, and international health

Human Science looks really cool.

Could I apply to Penn nursing ED and still do GU nursing EA?

correct. The School of Nursing and Health Studies has 4 undergraduate majors:
-International Health
-Human Science
-Nursing
-Health Care Management and Policy

-you can be pre-med with any of these majors. I'm a sophomore iHealth major, pre-med. Note that you won't get credit for AP Biology because NHS students take Human Biology. The International Health, Human Science, and Nursing majors require a year of Human Biology, and this also counts for the NHS pre-med track.
-Human Science is definitely a pretty cool major, and very unique among top schools. You can take classes in Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, the Genetics of Health and Disease, Microbiology, etc. As an International Health Student, you will be required to take Human Bio I and II, as well as Microbiology. NHS just opened up the new Discovery Center in the Medical campus, which is a new laboratory for NHS students. I'd definitely say that NHS has better lab facilities than the College, though you'll have to take Chemistry in the college as a pre-med or Human Science major.

You cannot early decision somewhere and do early action to Georgetown, it says so on the website.

A student I know is applying to Georgetown, classof 2017. She is unsure whether to apply to the College or to the school of Nursing. She is premed and finds the Human Science major equally as interesting as Biology. If she applies to one and is admitted, can she easily transfer to the other or is she locked into the school that admitted her?

Also, do students in the Nursing program have their own dorms, or do all Freshmen share the same dorms.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks.
