if so, what got you started with it?

for me it was
a) i used to be really into nethack, and the nethack community made me want to be a programmer, and all the "hardcore computer people" use linux :-P
b) for my bioinformatics project a lot of the stuff was designed to run under linux, so i had to download cygwin and learn a bunch of shell commands. plus my research mentor used macosx and kept telling me how great it was.

so i started experimenting with fedora and slackware
and eventually i got lazy
and switched back to windows

come on,
there’s gotta be at least some linux users here

Yeah, I dualboot Vista and Ubuntu.

It’s fun to go on linux and mess around. I love how everything updates itself with synaptec, and that you can DL and auto-install almost everything with just one prompt (sudo apt-get), but honestly, in this day and age, you’d be crazy not to have both systems.

Just too many programs (and games!) need to be run in Windows, and WINE has its limitations

i’m on linux
hate windows
can’t wait to get a mac

I dual boot with Mandriva and XP.

I’ve gone through a lot of small Linux builds and have toyed around with Ubuntu a bit. I was working on setting up a Linux Based Jukebox at one point but could never get a satisfactory computer for the job.

Yes. I tried 30+ distros before finding SliTaz, which is amazing. I also like Slackware, CRUX, and NetBSD.

I dual boot Ubuntu and Gentoo. When I first started using Linux, I just installed Ubuntu from a CD and tried to figure out all the kinks from there - it’s really easy to use. I’ve tried Fedora as well but didn’t find that to my liking.
