We finally have had a communication from a school. My d received a card saying her application was complete and there was a handwritten note from her interviewer saying he was happy to see she had completed the application. This is her top choice! We are so excited, but I know it does not mean much. He could just be thanking us for the $50 application fee.

emdee
What school?

Don't want to mention names.

I don't think a coach would come to a game unless he was very interested. If he liked what he saw, I would think it could be quite a feather in your son's cap.

And that's only possible if you live next to the school also.

True. In that case, then sending some game tape is pretty important...along with club info of course. If you play at the regional level for a well known club, it's going to increase interest.

what about a personal email from the director of admissions?

My son decided he would be pursuing a postgraduate year towards the end of his junior year. We sent emails to numerous coaches late last Summer/early Fall to express interest in their schools and programs. We heard back from a significant number of coaches (or the assistant coaches). Over the last few months several coaches have come to his games to watch him play. Another school which is a considerable distance has asked for game tapes. The same coaches have called and emailed him during this time. We are hopeful, but they obviously show interest in many athletes.

Newbie here. What does BS stand for? thx...

What is a HADES school?

BS-boarding school
Hades- hotchkiss, andover,deerfield,exeter, st. pauls

Hochkiss
Andover
Deerfield
Exeter
St. Pauls

I got a letter from my interviewer a few days after the interview

Are you sure ISL schools are entering a "quiet period". I have exchanged emails not only with my interviewer but a teacher of a department who I have a lot of interest in. As a matter of fact I have exchanged emails on an almost bi-daily basis.

Im pretty sure they are. All the coaches from various schools are using my coaches as a means of communication.

Hmm. Well maybe it is a weakly upheld rule. I have contact with not only with coaches, but also other people.

Maybe Milton uses a different method than that of whichever isl school you applied to. :)

Thats just the ISL though I believe. Just opened another mail from deerfield. But it was a note from the coach. Telling me that they beat Suffield academy (?)..and secured a spot in the playoffs..and to keep in touch.

I'm hoping maybe he asked the admissions officers if I was in or not before wasting his time sending me a personalized letter and then e-mailing my coach on the same day. We'll see I guess.

Cool, sounds as if the coach really wants you. If they brag about their school it's a cool thing. Or so I have heard.

Hopefully...athletics better hav a big pull. I may have to make up for a math grade and bad math recommendation lol. But then again..I'm applying as a repeat when I really don't need too (other than to get ahead in math).

Applying as a repeat is a good idea. To the contrary by interviewer was suddenly really impressed with my SSAT score when he found out it was against people a year older than me. This was at Andover so I am hoping that's a good sign.

Athletics have a huge pull, do you plan on playing Varsity and if so in which sport?
