Last name starts with M
It seems like a bunch of us have Yahoo mail. My spam is set to auto-delete, too, so I suspect I'm never getting an e-mail

I doubt that, my guess is that they have computers running all weekend that send maybe a thousand emails every hour or so and we are just the unlucky few in one of the final batches. I'd say we'll have them all before the end of today.

maybe we are just sooo many... 25000 applicants....
or maybe one batch got stuck... SCEA or kids from North cal... people with last names starting with C??
or maybe it's just really random

I have private email and I'm positive it wasn't deleted. If you have received any other email from Stanford, your email isn't on auto-delete for their messages.

My last name is W, I'm from Dallas, TX and am regular decision -- so it looks pretty haphazard.

hmm, well i certainly hope so. But their office is closed so i guess they must have some funky software which does that for them. But the pre-recorded message said "your decision might be half an hour or more late. if you have not received your mail after a considerable period of time" what the hell is considerablbe period of time! The monday message was a part of teh pre-recorded message

Just a thought, since this is a college-admissions site for people who are concerned heavily with admission, it makes sense that a majority of the people waiting are Early Action -- a majority of this board is probably early action.

I use hotmail and I cannot understand why there is a delay?.?
Anyhow,I decide to go to bed now~It's midnight here in China. Can't believe I've been waiting for nearly 18 hrs...Hope when I wake up, I'll have received my nice offer.
Everyone who is still waiting, best of luck~

got mine today. time says 9:30 0500.
stanford, you suck!!!!
go bears/bruins!!!!

That's their way of getting off for the weekend -- if they say a certain time period and they're wrong, people will go even more crazy.

Here's the kicker, from Stanford's website:

"Decision letters and emails will be sent sometime after 3pm (Pacific Time) on Friday."

I'm going out to eat to alleviate my anxiety. Best of luck.

Those clever bastards... I guess if we get in, we're learning from the best.

but why do they give a time estimate!! they shouldn't have said anything.... that way we wouldn't have wasted 18 hours of our lives.. we would have just opened our emails randomly over the weekend and BAM the decision

Luckily, a delay in their email process, or crafty wording on their website doesn't affect our chances of having been admitted. Don't give up just yet. I'll be willing to bet about 10% of us will still get in, despite the fact that we are in one of the last batches. More than likely, it's a random order.

i wonder if we'll still receive stuff in the mail...

monday is gonna suck X_X

I don't believe the system is sending e-mails all weekend as planned. If that were true, they would have said "sometime this weekend" instead of "March 28th." There's something wrong in their server, or in our e-mails, and it's plain disregard that they, first of all, use an imperfect system like e-mail only and that there's nobody in the office to correct the problem. We all paid, what, $70?

True, but I think that, for the majority of people who aren't so interested in admissions that they are posting on a forum about it (not an insult at all ;-)) probably don't even know about this sudden early mailing.

on the other hand, at least we know they are still sending out e-mails!
that rules out the broken system hypothesis

My guess is if you went through the Stanford website, it will say somewhere that, as long as you receive any kind of decision (mail or email), they've done their job. If there's something more serious wrong with their email sever, you'll still get your decision in the mail next week. But judging by the fact that there are still many people who are just receiving the emails, I don't think that's the case. We're just being delayed, nothing more.
