At my school students are tacitly allowed to let their own hired admissions consultants write recommendations on behalf of the school. Recommendations are quietly emailed between consultants and the school. Does anyone think this is unfair on those who haven't hired consultants?

Interestingly one of the companies that is writing people's recommendations is owned by: Whopper of the Week: Stephen LeMenager. - By Timothy Noah - Slate Magazine - Steve Lemenager.

I think it's unfair that 2 recommendations can seemingly come from the same teacher/counselor yet one can be written by a hired admissions consultant and the other by someone at the school. What happened to confidentiality?

I have told a major college about this and they seem to find it OK but I don't think it's fair on anyone.

So if you think it's not fair perhaps you could drop a line to headmaster@clsb.org.uk or gsg@clsb.org.uk or gd@clsb.org.uk or css@clsb.org.uk and tell them what you think of their policy.

Thanks.
