<p>No, you should pick a graduate school that is strong in your field of interest -- the quality of your doctoral/postdoctoral research is what determines whether or not you get offered a faculty position somewhere.</p>
<p>I mean, to think about it one way, the people who would be hiring you as a professor are colleagues in your discipline. They can't be BSed by a superior school name hiding a mediocre program, since they're the ones in your discipline who are doing the peer ratings for USNews, etc.</p>
