Hello, thank you so much for clicking on this.. I'll try to keep this very short

I am going from REGULAR precalculus and REGULAR chemistry I, to AP Calc BC and AP Chemistry.

Obviously this will be a rough assimilation to make, so I am planning to study over the summer.

Now, here's where you come in.. I need your opinion on the BEST way to prepare for these classes, whether it be auditing a class at a community college, or simply studying a Calc or Chem book at barnes and noble..

I will patiently await your replies, thank you so much for your time.

Now, my counselor and assistant principal flipped out on me when I asked if I can skip AB and go into BC next year… Any ways, I know plenty of people that skipped regular chem and went straight to AP Chem, I believe you will be fine. Now, I say save your money and go to iTunesU and get the MIT Calculus lectures and treat it like a real class.

thanks so much david i will definitely check that out… it sounds really helpful :)

Just to clarify david, Calc BC is “Single Variable Calculus by Prof. David Jerison” right? Just wanna make sure I dont study the wrong stuff haha… thank you for your help again

AP Chem - read Zundahl’s

AP Calc BC - read Larson’s Calculus of A Single Variable

Yes the Single Variable one by Mr. David Jerison.

thanks for the book ideas SchieffenPlan! I’ve already downloaded all the MIT videos, I can tell they’re gonna be really helpful, although I would like to supplement them with workbooks.

Does anyone else have any book recommendations? Or are schieffenPlans books fine? I appreciate any and all thoughts. thank you

At my school we don’t have a choice but to go from precalc to Calc BC, lol. Anyway I don’t know about books but if you are ever confused on a certain topic during the year (or even before), Patrick GMT on youtube has great videos and I learned tons from him, it was a great supplement to our classroom instruction.

I checked out Patrick JMT, he seems pretty helpful. thankyou :)

any other advice on books for ap chem and calc bc?

I would advise community college courses to prepare for AP Chem, but if not, then KhanAcademy’s website has many videos/lessons on Chem topics, so it’s always worth the time to check it out.

yea i was considering maybe auditing a chemistry class at a community college, but is it really worth all the time and money? Could I just get the Princeton review for chemistry and just try to learn all of it?
