question, i know this is stupid, but do the freshman dorms have airconditioning?

Air conditioning? Uh, no. Move in day last year was soooo hot and humid! We had only brought one but it wasn't enough to be comfortable. Ick. Went to Target and bought two more fans. So, we had one that clipped to his bed, one for his desk and a big standing-on-the floor-one that oscillated throughout the room. He kept the one by his bed year round but the others were stowed in his closet during the winter. Hope this helps.

No dorms have air conditioning and you're not allowed to have them either. Don't worry, though, it's only really hot for a couple weeks in September.

thanks for the info!

Somebody tell me about EPPICS?Please

Probably the best way to get information on EPIIC is via the website, which you can find if you search the Tufts website. I think the Tufts website is momentarily down right now, but the link should be on there. From what I've heard, EPIIC is a lot of work, but the program sounds really interesting.

how is grading? grade inflation or deflation

Grading depends on the class. I have not personally had any experiences with deliberate "inflation". I think the grading is fair - and it's hard to generalize, because each professor has his own policy.

I did, however, have one class in which the grades were artificially curved; essentially, this put the students at a more competitive disadvantage. However, by no means does this characterize all or even most Tufts classes.

What class was this, tufta08?

Hi.
I just visited Tufts and I have to say that I was not impressed at all. However....i am contributing that to the tour guide because I dont think I have ever heard a person use soo many "awesome"s in one sentence.
So, my question is....is Tufts a "party" school? What i got from the tour was that tufts had a LOT of EC's, like theater and stuff, but it just seemed like a very boring place.
I dont mean to offend to all those tufts students out there, but please could you answer honestly.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Tufts is not a party school in the vein of Tulane or Arizon State, but we do like to have fun to balance out the amount of work we do. (Tufts is a very balanced school in this sense: univ v. lac; party v. work; etc.).

In terms of its boringness, I do not think this is true at all...at least for me. I have had so much fun because of my classes, ECs and friends etc. And there is always boston and the many squares surrouding tufts mit and harvard...speaking of which, there are plenty of other schools to hang out at. So really, at tufts, things dont come to you, you go to them and there are plenty of options, and if you decide to browse you are bound to find something that will provide thorough entertainment or intellectual stimulation...w/e your hearts desire. Tufts is by no means a perfect school(if there is such a thing), but it certainly isn't boring.

One has to be able to experience a school themselves to really see if its right for them; a tour can never do justice for anything. So, I recommend that you talk to as many students at the next tour you take at whatever college and also walk around campus (esp when there are actual people on campus).
Good Luck!

Hey all... one thing I've been thinking about is the laptop I should be getting for my first year at Tufts... do people have trouble interfacing between macs and PCs? Should I just get a Windows XP Dell? And what's the best way to get discounts on laptops? Is Tufts' deal the best deal we can get?
