anything you wish you had known about MIT?

anything you wish you had known about MIT? Anything you would have done differently at MIT?

I wrote about some things I didn’t know about MIT in a blog entry here.

Mollie rocks!
I have a question: If you don’t like your dorm how quickly can you switch out, how easy is it to switch out? I unfortunately won’t be able to go to CPW…

It depends on what dorm you’re trying to get into - some have longer waiting lists than others. However, remember that you are supposed to be choosing your dorm for real during dorm rush, which is during Orientation, which you will be at. Before that everything’s preliminary.

It’s windy here.

I wish I had known before that there are a lot of lessons I would learn at MIT that couldn’t ever be passed on via a lecture of any sort. The best you can do is sorta sit back and enjoy(?) the ride.

PS: This post could be interpreted in a number of different ways… let the interpretation you pick reflect on your being. :)

haha, ill take that as a negative.

As a parent, I wish I’d known how close the school is to the ski slopes, and how easy it is to hop on a shuttle and ski/snowboard. I would have made sure my daughter packed all the relevant gear (as it was, we had to ship stuff mid-year on fairly short notice).

The winters are so cold!!! >____>

I wish I’d known how important greek life was going to be for me, I never would have skipped rush freshman year.

is rush during orientation or is it during cpw?

Rush is during orientation.

Funnily, as much as I preach this as if it were common knowledge, I didn’t even know that MIT and Harvard students routinely cross-register at each others’ schools. Nothing like this to someone very finicky about taking classes unless they are structured perfectly to his liking. Between two amazing schools, there’re probably double the classes I’d consider taking!
