AP Bio or AP Physics 2

Hi I’m going to be a senior next year and I have to decide if I want to take AP Bio or AP Physics 2. I either want to major in engineering or finance and I am in AP Physics 1 currently and I’m doing very well in it (100 on sem). Is there a benefit to taking one or the other or should I consider taking both if I want to apply to top schools?

Are you considering Biomedical Engineering or some other life sciences as a major?

Most competitive colleges expect you to have taken 3 lab sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) but if you have already taken Biology and Chemistry, go with what you are good at.

If you are considering EECS or mechanical engineering then Physics might be more useful.

@samsicle

Did you have biology in your freshman year of HS? If you did, you have completed the basic three years of a laboratory science, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics. If the question is, what ADDITIONAL year of lab science might be best, for most engineering majors it would be more physics (or math). Your choice may depend more on the direction of your own interests.

You might also want to note the AP credit requirements for the colleges you are interested in attending. An AP score of 4 or 5 usually works but check it out if AP credit is your concern.
