AP Bio self study

If I were to self study for AP Biology this year (senior year) and take the test in May, would that adversely affect my college applications seeing as I haven't and will not take the actual AP Biology course in school? I'm asking this especially because I want to major in pre-medicine and/or chemistry and I want to know if the actual class in school is absolutely necessary or highly recommended for college apps.

Im in the EXACT same situation as you are in…im really curious to know

As long as your course schedule is still “most rigorous” then it won’t matter much (i.e. you are taking an equally/more difficult course in lieu of AP Bio). It would be better to take the course though, if your application centers around your interest in medicine and somesuch, in the interest of having a more concerted application.
