I am currently a freshman and I have to chose my elective for next year. I am currently taking Honors Biology and next year I have the option to take AP bio as an elective while I take Honors Chemistry as my real science class. Should I take it or take AP Psychology as an "easy A"?

Lucky duck!

Don’t go for the easy A, that’s lame. Make sure you’ll be prepared for the workload as well as the content, so weigh your ability to complete long outlines and other assignments against your schedule.

I’d recommend AP Bio if you’re willing to put in the effort.

Take AP Biology!

You will have the topics fresh in your mind and you will be more prepared to study them in-depth.

I took Honors Biology as a freshman and I’m taking AP Bio as a senior. It’s not too bad, but there are a lot of moments of " I know I learned this before, but I don’t remember"

I am a little worried about the memorization part of AP Bio. ABout how much will I have to memorize?

about 5 times more than AP Psych

AP Bio >>>> AP Psych

AP Psych may be much easier than Bio, but it’s not necessarily an easy A!
That said, I recommend AP Biology. It’s a lot of work, true, but I don’t think that it’s particularly difficult if you’re willing to put in the effort. The memorization has been toned down in the recent update to the test - there’s a lot more logic involved.

Could AP Psych be a possible self study?

Yeah. It’s really easy to self-study for.

How much harder will AP bio be from Honors bio that I’m taking right now

It’s a whole lot more reading, though my honors teacher never used the book. It’s not difficult conceptually, but it’s tough memorizing the avalanche of knowledge that comes crashing down on you.

I heard that the test was redesigned. Does this mean that there is less memorization.

YOu know those stories about people studying for AP Psych a week/day/morning of the test? It’s true. Any longer and you’re studying too hard. Do bio class and ap psych self-study. A course (in psych, that is) will definitely include things you don’t need to know.

Self study pysch, its a joke. Take AP Bio because it looks better than an easy A. Colleges want you to challenge yourself and get excellent grades, just not get good grades.

I took the new AP Bio last year and I’m taking AP Psych this year- my senioritis class.
AP Psych is much, much easier than AP Bio, but it’s also a lot more boring, IMO. On the one hand, if you think that doubling up on sciences is going to be really hard, then do Psych- it’s definitely respectable and like you said it can only boost your grade. If you’re up for the challenge, sign up for Bio and get ready for the ride of your life! (Can you tell I loved this class? :).)
It’s not so much memorizing anymore except for just remembering the information. I was told that the old test was murderous- last year it was merely painful :). But there is a lot of information, covered on a much deeper level than in frosh bio, that you do need to remember, as well as a big focus on critical reading and essay skills.
