AP Biology or Physics

Which should I do for senior year (providing that I can't take the AP test for BIO if I don't take the class because my school won't let me).

I am leaning toward AP Bio because the teacher is my Key Club advisor, I got an A in regular BIO, and I just like it more. In chemistry I currently have a D...so Physics is going to kill me. My counselors say that I should take Physics though and that my transcript will look horrible if I don't have it in there. But then again...they don't see your grades in senior year, only on a maintenance level if after you get accepted so i don't know...

Don't take Physics if it will make you miserable! AP Bio is perfectly fine. The only exceptions would be if you're planning to apply to science-y schools or major in science (but if you don't like Physics or Chemistry that's not too likely anyway).

Do whatever feels the most natural for you. Imagine that college simply wasn't an issue - which would you take then?

If you think you're going to hate Physics, don't take it. Take something you're good at and enjoy instead. Go with AP Biology - you'll enjoy learning more about something you actually like.

Meanwhile, with AP Physics (either B or C), you'll struggle, show up to class in a bad mood, and get mediocre grades. That is something that you don't want to happen. Colleges may like it, but that only applies if you like it too. They can easily see that you're taking Physics just to inflate your transcript, and that is not a good thing.

If you cann't handle chemistry then just stay away from Physics. Also How is your math.
If you have not taken Calculus then you cann't take AP Physics C. Also for AP Physics B you need good mathmetical knowledge.

Why your counslar is suggesting the not taking AP Physics will hurt you?
It will only hurt if you are planning to go for Engineering/Physical Sciences. But getting a D in chemistry will hurt you more for that than AP Physics.

Best advice bring up your grade in Chemistry.

Would a good honors physics look better than another year of biology? (I think that's why the counsellor thinks it would look better not to have two years of high school biology on the transcript.)

What do you plan to study? For some fields, it might be important to have taken a physics class in high school ... and you shouldn't take AP until you have taken a basic physics class. Selective colleges like to see you take full advantage of the APs offered at your school, so taking AP Bio would be a good choice --- but I don't think it would hurt you in any way to take honors physics, instead (that is a logical choice & I can't imagine a college would expect you to go right into AP without the intro course). My advice is to take whichever one you want, unless you "need" physics (say, for engineering).
