***AP Biology Thread 2015-2016***

My teacher said that the 2013 MC was especially easy since it was their first year trying out the new format. All her students that year felt like it was more like ACT science questions with lots of interpreting graphs and such. It’s started to move back towards questions that require content memorization, though, so I would be careful with using the 2013 MC as example of what the 2016 exam will look like.

Should I spend time on all the organ systems(my teacher skipped them) or just the immune, nervous, and endocrine systems?

@ssm1002 I wouldn’t worry about them too much. My teacher basically skipped over them too. We went over them in like 10 minutes. I would just know the basic types of tissues (like muscle, connective) and general stuff.

What I’ve been doing to help with those sections is looking at root words so that if I encounter a term I don’t know I can figure it out (ex. vaso means vessel so vasodilation must mean the dilation of blood vessels).

@tryptophanoverload The percent of students getting a 4 or 5 on the 2013 exam was lower than that of the percent of students who got a 4 or 5 on the 2014 and 2015 exam. Seems like the 2013 exam was harder. Also the test is not going to move more towards content memorization.

I know a lot of people rave about Cliffnotes but I can’t help but feel that its way too complex and too much info for the exam. I have the Barrons book that I find to be a bit more helpful. Am I wrong about Cliffnotes though?

Ooookay just scored 44/69 on mc, how well would I need to do on fr to get a 3?

It seems like there are 2 versions of the 2013 mock exam. One being 58 questions and the other being 69 questions. Anyone tried them both can compare the difficulty?

What percent of the points do i need to get on this test to get a 3? On a mock exam we did in class i got 68 points out of 120 and that was a 3 so how many points at the minimum am I supposed to get for a three.

Why are you people so scared? This exam really tests skills, I feel like. You just have to have a very general understanding of actual biology (Even for FRQs).

Does anyone think we may see a FRQ based on brain structure or climate change? I feel like those topics are huge but have never come up in a new FRQ… Maybe endocrine system? Or DNA tech?

@YoLolololol I completely agree with you.

@insertcleverpun thank you!

There is usually at least one frq on either the immune system or the nervous system. I feel like there will be one on the endocrine system this year because they haven’t asked about it in depth on the frq yet. I think DNA technology or cloning is also very possible…

What do we need to know about the endocrine system?

Last minute crammings wont even help that much. Those little bitty details won’t be tested on the exam (even if it is, there will be like one solitary question on it). They are not testing if you remember those tiny little details. As long as you have a big picture understanding of these processes, you are good.

Hoping for a four. If i get 40 on mcq (pessimistically) and 14 on question 1+2 and 14 on questions 3-8, thats a 85 raw score. Is that a four?

Self studied pretty much. My teacher taught this class for several years. No one got a five. I wanted to be the first one but i realized theres only so much one can study, what with other aps too.

Good luck everyone!!

@ikim16
Yes 85 is a solid 4.

what raw score would you need to attain a 5?

@BOBROSS
I think the 69 question one is harder than the 58 question one. I took both ones.
I got 54/58 and 56/69.
