***AP Biology Thread 2015-2016***

Oh I meant something else when I said leaves… I put stems for part a

For Part A, it’s not stem, it’s the roots. Roots are the first thing that grows after germination. I don’t know why you guys are saying it’s stem… By the end of the first week of May, it was 80% of the roots and 20% of the stem.

@gkdudtlffj but on the graph its mass decreases which is the opposite of growth.

@gkdudtlffj The roots start at 100%, so they actually decrease during the first week, while the stems are the part of the plant increasing at the fastest rate.

@BOBROSS Ok, yeah, after looking at the graph again I can see your logic with this.

Wait, isn’t the stem also decreasing though?

I don’t even remember what answer i put for that! I feel like i put roots…

The stem isn’t decreasing because it starts at zero and then becomes a percentage greater than zero

You guys remember seeing that question about “what is an ethical question that could be asked”? Did you guys put something with family genetic history reports to insurance companies

also i feel like this is one of those 10 questions that wont count

For the ethical question that’s what I put too

@BOBROSS There are no 10 questions that won’t count. The whole experimental questions fiasco was just a rumor.

Man I’m honestly just hoping for a 3 please God

@InNeedofMilk if you look at the scoring for the 2013 ap bio exam it says that it is graded out of only 57 multiple choice and 40 free response points which would indicate that 10 out of the 63 mcq are experimental and 1 of the 6 grid ins are also experimental. Also in exams such as apush they throw out one short answer every year because it was experimental. Also there are some questions that are different between people who have the same forms which further supports that there are questions that are experimental because they want to see how much of the curriculum teachers cover.

I’m getting anxious… I know I did pretty good on the APHUG exam but this one, I was too careless and slow. I’ll definitely improve my study habits for the next time. I have so much regrets right now, but I won’t be satisfied if I get less than 4 b/c I really like Biology and I don’t want to get a 3 because of that haha

This year is my first year of taking APs, so I didn’t know what to expect. I thought the AP Bio exam would be like the AP Chem exam I had taken a week ago, but I was so wrong. The AP Bio exam, to me, was a easier, even though the FRQs did trip me up a couple of times. Still hoping that I got at least 4s on all my APs this year.

Dude right!!! I have had a rant about this test for a while! I hate the fact that the test makers want to screw with our lives by gambling with such an important test. I would have gotten a 5 on any other year’s test but, the college board decided to mess up the test! There better be a generous curve because this test was so much harder than last year’s or any of the college board mocks! Boycotttttt!!!

@Suk2001 What do you mean? I took a few of the previous year exams and this year’s Bio looked very similar. I feel like I fell on the border of a 5 and 4 so Im also mad that I made silly mistakes and honestly hope for a good curve but Im curious what others feel. Are people in general agreement that this test was harder? If so we might get a good curve.

Test was easier in terms of memorization, but harder to read. Im not terrible at English, but reasing countless convoluted answer choices took its toll.
Frqs were straightforward, so much so that it was kinda hard to relate the big ideas that bio releases. Grid ins were on par with practice, mcq was better than 2013 but harder than the ones cb released.
Frqs were easier than past ones, because I think the concepts were easier. Introns, meiosis, symbiotic relationships, interpreting graphs, and other okay questions were reasonable. Was hoping for a five but mcq wrecked me. Hoping for a four.

When i say the test was easy, i compare it to the previous ones, since those were hard in my opinion.

For the parasitism and mutualism graph, I forgot they were separated and all my answers for that FRQ was based off on that assumption. Although what I wrote was correct (assuming they weren’t separated), would I have 0 points for that FRQ? Hopefully they give at least a few points for trying or with pity haha. I know for sure the meiosis one I got no points. God, I can only hope for a 4.

@latiere I had the slopes both lower but positive for the graph that showed they were mutualism and separated. Some people said that they should decrease in mass and die but isn’t it still right to say that they will just decrease in the rate of mass gain (shown by a less steep slope) but still positive since the plant can still gain mass from photosynthesis etc.
