Quick question - Is it a good idea to use FRQs from years prior to 2013? The new exam FRQs focus on data/lab analysis while the old ones were more of a “spit back info you memorized” kinda stuff.
Don’t know if the old ones can help me review specific details for the MC or even FRQs, or if they would lead me down the wrong direction.
Since the new FRQs are now data-based and lab-based, it would probably be wise to brush up on some lab review, but that does not mean that previous FRQs won’t be helpful. It’s good practice, but it’s better to use limited time to review FRQs after 2013.
My son is taking the AP Bio exam a week from today. I want to sign him up for the SAT subject exam. I clicked on the link and there is Bio-E and Bio-M. Which one aligns best with AP Bio? He is not reachable now and I want to get this done. Thx!
@CaBeachMom
eh both are pretty much the same
60/80 questions are the exact same and 20 are slightly more ecology based for bio e, and 20 and are slightly more molecular bio based for Bio M.
Imo, there’s not really one that’s better aligned with AP, both are. Take whichever one he feels more confident on, 20 extra eco questions, or 20 more molecular questions.
I’ve also heard the curve is slightly better on M.
Personally, I went with M.
Can anyone explain why the practice exam an de website say 63 MC and 6 grid-ins, but the 2013 and 2016 tests both had 53 MC and 5 grid-ins…?
They throw out ten questions every year
Hope everyone did well. Finally got AP Biology out of the way…
That wasn’t nearly as bad as I had expected. Glad it’s over though
So what did you think about the test today?
*Don’t discuss specific questions!
I thought the FRQs were horrible (cries) and the MCQ was eh/okay. I just hope there’s a huge curve.
I thought the test was quite easy. Although I could always be wrong…
I thought the test was pretty easy too.
The MC was definitely easy, and so was most of the FRQ (I forgot the rest).
@destined4harvard @TechBuzz That’s not ten questions. That’s 10 mcqs and 1grid-in thrown out. Also, I don’t think this is always the same. If you look at the 2015 exam, I think all the grid ins were thrown out and 57 mcqs were kept, so section 1 was out of 57 questions. That’s a drop in 12 questions.
Hey guys, do you know if there are answer keys for the released FRQs anywhere? Or are those not released until later? If so, does anyone know when they tend to be released? I have to register for college classes before AP scores are out, so I’m trying to predict my score to figure out what credits I might earn. Scores literally come out the week after I have to register.
Sorry, I don’t think any answers have been released. You’d probably have to wait months, CollegeBoard won’t finish grading all the exams in just 19 days. There are some videos that explain possible correct FRQ responses; here’s one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR89Qr6flaM
