We’ve got about 24 days until the exam. Hope all is going well.
I haven’t done much prep for the exam so far…and with only a few weeks to go I’m hoping I can secure a 4 at the least. How many hours a day should I be putting in to study? I have some review books and can take some practice tests, but don’t feel like I’m in solid shape. Any tips?
I would say if you’ve been putting in the work throughout the year, a good run-through of all the material will be sufficient for you. Make sure you understand what’s happening and not just trying to memorize everything.
Personally, I would aim for like an hour a day/a different section a day. Maybe spend the next two weeks learning a section a day (Molecular Genetics, Plants, Biochemistry, etc.) and then spend the last week practicing. Bio has a lot of material, and you also want to leave time to practice the types of questions they ask.
Thanks for the advice, Zion101.
I’ve got a few more days of spring break and I’m utilizing that time to prepare.
Is there an AP Bio study group chat anywhere???
About 15 days left till exam date, I’m sorta rushing through content at this point.
Not sure shkodra14.
I’m so screwed for this exam lmfao- I haven’t taken one practice exam yet, my teacher never finished going over everything (as expected), and I have been so busy with other school work. I regret relaxing over my spring break as I could have been studied more. I’m also taking the SAT II in Bio two days before the exam. And it’s on a monday… yikes
I still haven’t taken a practice exam yet, nor has my teacher completed body systems. I’m screwed.
@Coffee2913 same here, i’ll pray for the both of us hahaha
@Coffee2913
I wouldn’t worry about your teacher not finishing body systems, I took last years exam (got a 4) and there weren’t any questions about body systems.
I’m also taking the SAT II exam…
I’m studying but there’s so much to study I don’t know what to study! I’ve been using the Barron’s book and going through the Khan Academy material but I don’t know how well it’ll match the exam.
What’re you guys using?? Any websites you’d suggest?
@SmartBunny It might be the complete opposite this year, but who knows? Just gotta do what you can I guess.
@shkodra14 I’m taking the Sat II Subject test as well. Khan Academy is very good from what I hear, and Barron’s also does a good job. If you’re understanding the material and feel comfortable as move on, don’t worry too much. I’m using 5 Steps to a 5 and CliffNotes.
@Coffee2913 @shkodra14 I’m taking the SAT subject test too haha, may 6th i am taking it, which is really close to the ap exam lmao. i took my first mock exam today (only multiple choice) and got 55% correct- my teacher cut us short by 30 minutes so i was rushing. I really hope the exam isn’t too bad haha.
I took the 2013 practice exam posted by college board somewhere and got an 82% but I always always always get Ds on FRQs in class so I’m seriously lopsided in my abilities and have no idea how to study for that portion. I’m trying to do practice ones but I haven’t seen much improvement :// I know the material but it never comes across my mind to include the details I need to include for points!
If you’re consistently getting in the B range on your practice tests, FRQs included, then you’ll get a 5.
Do you guys think I have enough time to teach myself body systems and review everything before the exam? This is my first ap exam and i am so lost. I am really aiming for a 4, but where i am right now, I am on track for a 3
^why did you wait for the last minute to review the body systems?
Wait, body systems? My class never went over body systems, & I haven’t seen them mentioned in any of my textbooks/prepbooks.
We had a brief dissection unit but that was it. We also went over coelomates/protosomes/germ layers/that kind of stuff, but never body systems specifically?
@NASA2014 uhh, because my teacher never went over it? lol
@shkodra14 Learn action potential its probably the only important part.
Body systems such as circulatory system, respiratory system, endocrine system, nervous system, immune systems are important. I would focus more on nervous, endocrine, and immune. My teacher taught us those three and left the rest for us to learn.
