Can the experts here please help on the kind of programs that you have on your TI 83 and TI 84 plus?

What programs are useful from the exam point of view? (both AB and BC)..

My niece who is a math whiz really has absolutely no programs in her TI 84 + with 2.55 mp OS - she says its fine to have no programs for the exam as she knows the material. Is she correct?

Can you please suggest the programs that you all think is necessary and also the source so that she can organize those before the AP Calculus exam this May.

Thanks so much for your help

I don’t have my students put any programs on their TI-83/TI-84+ and they tend to do pretty well.

Yeah, I’ve found that calculator programs aren’t too helpful for the exam. I do have programs for calculating riemann sums and trapezoidal sums, but they’re not too helpful because those things are usually on the noncalculator portion of the exam, anyway.

Mathprof and nonexistent - thanks. That’s helpful!

What about the program DEFAULTS? Is it useful or is that also not needed? What exactly does this program do from the exam point of view?

thanks

Bump - help appreciated

If you have something that can solve systems of linear equations and polynomials of degree greater than two, that might help (I think there’s a default program called PolySmlt that does it). Probably not for the exam that much, but it can come in handy later in college.
