I’m currently a junior in high school trying to plan out my senior year. And I’m debating ober whether to take ap calc ab or regular calc. I’m currently in pre calc honors and I’m not doing so well I’m averaging a C or a B- anyways I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what to take.
Ask your teacher or guidance counselor for advice, but regular might be better if you’re getting a C in precalc.
It depends on your course load for senior year… if you’re taking multiple AP classes, I wouldn’t recommend doing calc. However, if you have a fairly light course load, I would say give AP calc a try.
It is dependent on how you are feeling to the challenge. I would recommend against it, since fundamental skills are quintessential in AP Calculus in order to do well. It is possible to fill in those gaps, but definitely not that easy.
It depends on the course rigor of calculus at your school. I would not recommend the challenge of reg calc if you’re averaging a B-/C though.
Calc BC is usually the hardest math course for seniors.
“I’m currently in pre calc honors and I’m not doing so well I’m averaging a C or a B-”
I think that you answered your own question. Calculus is very highly dependent upon pre-calc. Take the easier version or neither. You could of course also ask your teacher, but I would not jump from a B- in pre-calc to AP Calc.
Due to your current grades in pre-calculus honors, indeed recommended regular calculus (if you intend to apply to a business/social science major) or AP stats (if you intend to apply to a humanities major).
