AP Calc AB vs Calc I in college?

I’m a senior in HS and I’m struggling in AP Calc and I was just wondering if I’m going to be able to handle math in college?
Calc AB is only a semester’s worth of calc so it’s technically at half speed so I really don’t feel prepared to handle college.

How do AP classes actually compare to College classes? I’ll probably be going to a large state school so with that in mind.
I would like to know about any course not just calc.

I can’t speak for how the two courses compare. However, a struggle through Calc AB may be good preparation for Cald I in college.

It’ll be twice as fast, tested less straightforwardly, and possibly with less professor interaction.

As others have said, it’ll be the same material covered in a shorter amount of time if you take Calc 1 in college.

The good news is that if you’re struggling now and take Calc 1 once you get to college, you’ll already be exposed to the material and will hopefully be able to grapple with it better. I know for me, I took Calc AB my junior year of high school (highest math offered at my HS), and no math senior year. I chose to retake Calc 1 freshman year of college despite having high enough scores to bypass it, simply because I felt like I needed the refresher after a year of no math. It turned out that some concepts that didn’t click with me in HS suddenly clicked when I studied them a second time in college, and I feel like I came out with a better understanding than I did when I took AB. That’s just how it works sometimes!

I took Calc AB senior year and then Calculus I freshman year of college – it is far easier the second time around.

I did the same as @preamble1776 …took AP Calc senior year and then retook as a freshman…definitely easier!!
