Damn who agrees with me that Wednesday is going to be a bruttle day for all of us test takers ??? :-/

yea wednesday is gonna stink.

hey omgitscollege: how do u know that shells is not tested? and that they're the same thing? Cuz both of the methods are in my princeton review book.

anyone know for sure? from a reliable source? (not to say the omgitscollege isnt reliable) I just wanna be absolutely sure.

i've seen alot of position/velocity/acceleration problems...also a few where like, water is being poured into a cylinder or something, find the rate at which the height/volume/whatever is changing, stuff like that

Shells is not on the test.

For SURE??
Shell is hard

I still need to review u-subsitution and volume from integral rotation, those are my worst by far.

Where to begin?

anyone know how to reformat a ti 89 titanium i just forgot and i cant seem to figure it out

F6->Clean Up?

Shells do not appear explicitly, but you may use them if you want. The method is only an alternate method of tackling the same problem that the disc/washer methods solve. Sometimes it's easier shells, sometimes it isn't. But it's not a required topic.

Reformatting Ti-89:
hold on, clear, 2nd or something like that.
It's in the online manual.

no i mean like reformat it :)

Good luck everyone! I have a date with Michael Kelley and Mark Wilding.

i know i did it before but i forgot :( cant seem to google it out

nvm i got it lol i found the os loader program in the ti connect folder

I'm pretty sure b/c my teacher said no shells on AB. Man, I have Spanish tomorrow....don't know what/how to study.

my teacher taught us shells and said it was better than washers... oh well!
Anyone know what free-response will be, i did the 2005 and did well, so im figuring i will bomb watever comes up on thursday. :-(P

Shells are tested on the BC, but you're not required to know them on the AB. That's what my teacher said. She had us learn it, because she said it might help, but it's not required.

I'd say you'll most likely be using the washer method (from what I can see from past exams).

does anyone know how they score the test?...how its weighted...what for a 3,4,5? thanks

45 MC Questions, One point for a correct response, -.25 points for an incorrect response, Multiply the result by 1.2 to get raw MC score, 6 Free Responses, Each out of 9 points, Scored on a guideline, Add total from Free Response to raw MC score, round. Max total possible points = 108. A 5 is usually 65/108 or somewhere around there. I don't know what a 4 or 3 is.

The shell method can be applied to anything that the disc/washer method can, but it depends on the situation. Sometimes it's easier to use shell, sometimes it's easier to use washer. Doesn't make a difference at all, since the one that shell would be used is usually a calculator one, so you can just integrate it using your calc.
