AP calculus AB or AP Statistics for a business major?

I am currently deciding whether to take AP Calc AB or AP stats for senior year. I plan on majoring in business with a focus in management or consulting. I also plan on going to college in Europe(Germany or Scandinavia). I am in precalc now and I got a low-mid B last semester. I am struggling with trig proofs, though. I did some probability stuff last year and I was pretty good at it.
I also don’t want to push myself too much if/when the senioritis hits. The only other AP I am taking next year is AP econ.
So which is best for me-AP calc or AP stats?

What kind of schools are you interested in applying to?

I would definitely recommend calculus- but probably not AP. Isn’t there regular or honors?

I’d apply to business schools. My school only offers AP calc.

I think both would be helpful for business. Do you have any idea of the type of business you’d like to study/eventually work in? Some areas of business rely more on statistics, while some areas use calculus.
I think AP Calc would be slightly more impressive to colleges depending on the specific difficulty of each class at your school.
In the end, take whichever class you think you would enjoy most and could do best in An “A” in AP Stat would probably look better than a low “B” in AP Calc.

Business major programs often require both calculus and statistics.

Calculus for business majors may be an easier version, so AP calculus credit is often allowed to fulfill it. The required statistics may be non-calculus-based (AP statistics credit may be allowed to fulfill it) or calculus-based (AP statistics will not be allowed to fulfill it).

Take calculus. No doubt.

Okay, I just saw that you want to go to college in Europe. I’m not familiar with the requirements there. I would say to research the schools you are interested in and see if they have recommendations/prefer one over the other.

For a business major, you will probably need to take both eventually.

Calc is generally the more difficult class for most people and generally considered more rigorous. However, if you don’t need to take it now to gain admission to the school of your choice, you can always take it in college.

I have more time now so let me explain my reasoning.

My S did not take calc in HS and went on to an undergrad b-school. The problem was that all but 2 students in his college business calc class had already taken calc in HS. He was at a huge disadvantage – what was new material for him was essentially a review for 95% of the class. My S got through the class but it was stressful and he spent a lot of time at the college’s math center, at office hours etc. It was not an ideal way to start college.

FWIW most students in my son’s college did not take stat in HS so while both classes are required for undergrad business majors IMO calc is more important to take in HS.
