Here's the criteria for the National AP Scholar Award:

"Granted to students in the United States who receive an average grade of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams."

My question is, does the AB subscore on the BC exam count as a separate "exam score" that can count as one of the eight required to receive the National AP Scholar award? JW. :)

No. You didn’t take the Calc AB exam.

Interesting question I’d like the answer to as well, since my rising senior S has taken six AP classes and seven tests (one of which included AP Calc BC.) From what I’ve read on CC, some schools require the student to take Calc AB before BC. At our HS, students sign up and take one, based on an assessment of their abilities.

I gather the exams (two of them) for AP Physics C (one in mechanics and one in electricity and magnetism) actually do count as two tests, since we paid for them as two tests and there was no mention of subscores. However, even though the AP Calc BC test does have the AB subscore, you pay for just one test. It would be interesting to see if a student took and paid for two tests (Calc AB one year, then Calc BC the next), would this count as two exams, but the subscore on the Calc BC as not a separate exam.

I’m going to place my bet by following the money and predict the answer to OPs question will unfortunately be no.
