If i get A grades in Pre Calculus Regulars and then switch to AP Caculus BC ( meaning regulars transferring to math honors track in Senior year.) Would it even make my applications look better than taking AP Calculus AB? And by how much? Thank you :D

I’m not sure it’ll make you look any better, but with BC you might exempt more or place higher in college math.

I don’t know by how much either, but if you are good at and are serious about math, then take BC. To me, the AB track and curriculum was way too slow.

bump anyone?

A 5 on the AB exam is like a 3 on the BC. The AB course at my school went so slow that many kids began to forget the content. It won’t make you look much better, but it will give you a better foundation. The course is not too hard.

Super bump… anyone more?

AB really did go slow, especially since my only other comparison for an AP class this year was Physics B… and that class speeds by.
I wish my school had an option to take BC junior year and then multivariable calc senior year… but you have to take AB junior year and then the last few topics of BC alongside multivariable calc senior year. It’s annoying.

it may look better if you can prove yourself and get good grades as well!

AB is a little slower, but if you enjoy the faster-paced BC curriculum, go for it.

Also, a 5 on the AB shouldn’t be considered a 3 on BC (can’t really predict scores that way). After all, you could get a 5 on AB and a 5 on BC. However if you take the BC exam knowing only AB material, you’ll probably get a 3.

Take BC, AB isn’t a prereq at all
