I was raped. ;_;

Lol, are you a native?

Nope lol. My parents are native, but like, I speak to them in English and they speak to me in Chinese. So I can understand almost perfectly, and that’s about it…

haha it’s ok. I am in the same situation as you, so my listening is great but my speaking sucks.
I’m sure you did fine.
last year’s seniors told me that when they took it, they paused for like 5 seconds saying uhhhh and still got a 5
my cultural presentation was a disaster. not even joking haha

it was easy except for cultural presentation which was totally random haha…

just curious, what’s the cultural presentation topic for this year? i took it last year and it was about chinese art, which i don’t think it’s too hard…

hahah it was about chinese celebrities like yao ming, michelle kwan, yo- yo ma, jackie chan, etc.

most everyone in our class was like “yess!!!” because each one of us knew extensive info about one of those people above, so we just went off rambling about it…

the mc was pretty easy imo, and the listening was kind of tricky… but overall it was easier than I expected. :)

i thought the whole test overall was pretty easy–listening wasn’t really hard, there were maybe 2-3 tricky ones in the reading…

writing essays were okay haha…they were pretty easy to write.

^xxblair
wow, much to my surprise XD, haha this sure is easy compare to the chinese art~~ i had to tell the history and contribution about calligraphy, chinese opera and such~~

yeah, i agree w/ you about the reading and listening, i remembered the listening went pretty fast but not hard~

does anyone know how the grade is calculated?
is it pretty much even between reading (25%), listening (25%), speaking (25%) and writing (25%)???

dude i’m defs in the same boat as you. my parents are both native speakers but i never talk to them in chinese!
i SUCK at speaking and totally BS’d my way through the cultural presentation.
i’m pretty good a listening and shaky when it comes to reading but i thought that some of the reading was challenging.

Listening I was pretty good, at maybe missed 2 or 3. Reading was a *****; I took the entire hour but I think I did alright. Writing… for every 5 paragraphs the native-ish Chinese wrote, I wrote 0.5 to 1 max. And I got cut off on both of them. Conversation, I was cut off on all of them. Cultural presentation, my first sentence was ok… the rest sucked and I spoke English. I said maybe 15 Chinese words max. ■■■
