AP classes = Shorter college experience?

Is this real life? Since I believe college is probably the best experience socially, and I don't want it to end pre-maturely.

Does AP classes = Less time needed to graduate college?

Or can I take up fluff classes to fill in my schedule for a full 4 years?

Don’t worry about. You can graduate early if you want to (at some places), but you can also use the extra time to learn more and be tied down by fewer pre-reqs.

APs give you the flexibility to graduate in less than 4 years, depending on how many classes you take and how many credits your college offers for them. But don’t worry about them cutting down on your time at college if you want 4 years, since there will be more than enough interesting classes to fill up 8 semesters.

It also depends on the college. Could you graduate early? Yes, in some instances. Could you participate in an excellerated program into a masters and complete that in 4 years? Yep, that is possible too.

You could also spend the time saved by AP classes doing a double major, study abroad, or research (I plan to do all three).

Another 2 things thing to consider are: 1) at what level were your AP courses in HS taught. We’ve had students who were given credit for the college intro class, put right into a second level course & found themselves in over their heads (especially in foreign langauge) 2) Taking intro classes at college can help your GPA if looking to continue on after undergrad.

If I have the option to save one year of tuition, I’m going to do it…

study abroad for a year !

Take APs if available to you. You may have the option to end a semester early, but more than likely you will have elective or special topics courses to fill in with & make use of your time at school, as there is a certain amount of credits that you’re required to take at the university to graduate.
