AP Classes

How many AP Classes are a good number for college admissions

It depends on your specific situation, including your interests, which AP courses are offered to you, and which ones you are considering.

It also depends upon the colleges you are targeting.

The answer can be zero if taking any APs results in Cs and Ds in all these classes.

Depends on the colleges you are applying to as well as how many APs are offered in your HS. There is no one right answer for every situation.

I would imagine that your 9 APs should be sufficient for most schools including your top choice of UW-Madison.

The answer depends on your current GPA, what colleges you’re aiming for, what grade you’re in what colleges you’re targeting

What schools are you targeting? What’s your intended major?

A Berkeley AO came by for a parent conference a couple of years ago and mentioned to the parents that for STEM majors at my kid’s HS (offers full gamut of AP classes) that a bare minimum of 8 AP classes is the expectation. Not easy to do since at my kid’s HS a max of 1 AP in 10th and 4 in 11th, as well as grade and teacher recommendation prerequisites in order to get into many of the APs.
