***AP Computer Science A 2017 Exam Discussion***

The curve jumped to 78?? Where did you get that information. Last year, the scores were the lowest in years. If anything the curve dropped to about 55-60% to get a 5. On average it’s 70-75% Due to poorly written questions and increased difficulty of last years exam, there was no choice but to make this years exam easier. More than likely curve will go back to normal.

I found the multiple choice pretty easy (except one or two questions where I got lazy), and the FRQs were a breeze. Hopefully, I get a 5 if the curve is the same. I expect to have gotten maybe 35 multiple choice questions right, and 8s or 9s on the FRQs.

FRQs are out!!!

I think the curve this year will probably be in the lower 70s (for a 5), and if I got about 80% of the test right, I can get that 5! I only guessed on two multiple choice questions, and the multiple choice was overall pretty easy. As for the FRQs, they were what I expected. I knew there was going to be a question each on substring manipulation and multidimensional arrays, so I prepared myself for that and I think I did well for my code on that section.

From Trevor Packer on Twitter: “The 2017 AP Computer Science A scores: 5: 24.4%; 4: 20.9%; 3: 21.9%; 2: 11.5%; 1: 21.3%. These may shift slightly as late exams are scored.”
