AP Computer Science vs. AP Chemistry

I’m a sophomore, and registration for junior classes is coming up…

English 1 Honors
French 1
Beginning Choir
PE (mandatory) and health (mandatory), 1 semester each
Precalc Honors
Chemistry Honors

10:
English 2 Honors
French 2
Advanced Choir
World History AP
Calc AB
Physics Honors but will take AP 1 test

11: (Planned)
English 3 AP
French 4 (I have permission to skip French 3 provided there are enough people for a French 4 class next year.)
Advanced Choir
APUSH
Calc BC
AP computer science or AP

12: (As much as I have figured out)
Some English class that I haven’t figured out yet
French 4, French AP, Music Theory AP, or another class I haven’t considered yet
Advanced Choir
AP European History
AP Stats
AP Physics C, will take B and C tests (there is no B class at my school)

I’ve gotten easy As in all my math and science classes so far, all my classes actually except an A- in World History AP.
I want to major in math or physics. I have heard scary things about Chem AP, and the teacher is not all that great. Average test
scores are in the 30-40% range. I also don’t have much interest in chemistry. I would much rather take AP computer science, since I already know one programming language (not Java). Would not taking a science class junior year ruin my chances of getting into a competitive school with a good math or physics program? Such as Berkeley, UCLA, Caltech, Princeton, Harvard, MIT…

I don’t think APCS vs. AP Chem will make a huge difference; all that colleges want to see is that you are challenging yourself with a rigorous course load and that you have the required courses needed for admission.

Another possible option is to take Physics C junior year and APCS senior year, if you can.

Also btw, Physics B no longer exists.
