I'm currently a rising Junior and am taking 4 AP's, Chem, Pysc, Lit, APUSH. Do you think that this is too little or too hard? Because I could also take Stat this year just to have 5 but I'm just not sure. Any thoughts?

You’re fine imo

Do not ever take a class just to have another AP. Take the courses because you want to. Leave it as it is.

Got it. Thanks!

Unless you plan on applying to top 20s or want to get accepted to a really competitive major somewhere, you have too much, but if either of those applies to you, you should be fine

I think with those classes you should be doing great. You don’t want to overload your coursework, unless you feel confident that you can achieve 5’s on the test. Props to you btw!!

You should be fine, good for you! Plus, you gotta leave some for Senior year anyway.

My school generally advises against taking more than 3-4 APs. Colleges WILL see that you have a rigorous schedule just by your 4 APs, so there really is no reason to take 5 (or 6 or 7 for that matter, unless you’re 100% POSITIVE you’ll ace them). Even if you plan on applying to the Ivies, 5 APs can get a bit hard to handle, and contrary to popular belief, colleges are not looking for kids who go crazy over APs. Remember, you want challenging not overloading or “oh, this will look good for college.” And remember it’s not all about the # of APs a kid takes-- you need balance! But in the end, only YOU know what’s best for you Good luck!

In my school a junior who wants to consider themselves somewhat competitive, will take a schedule similar to yours. It depends on your school system, and if you think you can manage it. I think if you’ve done well in previous AP’s and you’re not a lazy kid, you’ll do fine
