Hi all, I was recently admitted to Yale SCEA, and am currently trying to figure out the AP credit policy. For some reason, their table confuses me —so if I could list my AP test scores, and a knowledgeable soul lets me know what kind of credit I get that would be AMAZING.
Tests (all 5s):
APUSH
AP Macro
AP Micro
AP Lang
AP Comp Sci Principles
ALSO: We will be signing up for AP tests at my school pretty soon, so if anyone wants to let me know which would be worth my while to take (so as not to waste $$ and effort for no reason) that would be great!
Current classes:
AP Lit
AP Gov
AP Physics C Mech/E&M
AP Calc BC
AP Stat
Any help is appreciated!
First.congrats on your acceptance.
Short answer. AP credit will only apply if you plan to graduate in fewer than 8 semesters. If you’re planning on spending the entire 8 semesters, you don’t get the credit, but you can generally, if needed, bypass the corresponding course at Yale.
Acceleration credit for past exams:
APUSH - none
AP Macro - none unless you take Econ 126 in your first year, then you get 1 credit
AP Micro - none unless you take Econ 121 in your first year, then you get 1 credit
AP Lang - 1 credit. Can get 2 credits by taking 2 of certain higher level courses your first year
AP Comp Sci Principles - none, but you can get 1 or 2 credits if you take certain higher level CS courses.
Fir this year’s exams:
AP Lit - Not worth taking since you have the AP Lang credit
AP Gov - Not worth taking since no credit is awarded.
AP Physics C Mech/E&M - Worth taking if you can get a 5 on one or both
AP Calc BC - worth taking
AP Stat - Not worth taking since no credit given
@skieurope thank you so much for taking the time!!! This really helps.
