AP credit

Is there a maximum amount of credit hours Rice will award for AP exams?
Or can I place out of, lets say, 44 hours?

Here is where to find the list for 2006-2007.

<a href="http://www.ruf.rice.edu/%7Ereg/ap/f06s07.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~reg/ap/f06s07.html</a></p>

(Googled 'Rice University AP'- amazing thing that Google!)

Maybe I'm overlooking something, but I still can't find if you can receive an unlimited amount of hours. A lot of school will only give up to 10 credit hours for AP exams.

So for every AP exam, a 4 is a good enough score to receive credit? Are there any exams that require a 5?

I know people who came in with around 50 hours.. I don't know if they cap it.

One (international) student my year came in with 80+ credits. No, there's no limit ;).

You don't get distribution credit for all classes, though. The credit isn't very useful unless it meets distribution credit. My son decided not to take the AP English exam for that very reason.

You can receive unlimited hours from AP credit. However, like some above have noted, not all AP credit can be applied to distribution credit. Also, some majors have requirements as to how many hours can be transfered in (though it's usually not an issue with AP, as I don't think there's any major where you could run into that cap with the available AP tests).

wait, so whats the point of my, say, AP English Lang exam credit if it doesn't meet distribution credit? What kind of credit is it good for? It seems almost a little deceptive to have it on the website as being good for credit but not really worth anything.

It counts toward your number of total hours for graduation. Whether that helps or not is not clear. Now you are seeing how stupid the whole AP thing really is. You can't replace college education.

Like everyone else said, getting a 4 or 5 on the AP Lit exam will earn you 3 hours of credit but it does not exempt you from the Composition exam. Remember to sign up for either round 1 or 2 before the deadline!
