AP English Lang: Mult Choice

I am not sure if we can discuss this, but if we can, do u guys remembr any questions? and waht u put for them? just to keep the mind sane until July!

We're not allowed, but I have already been very bad.

Aren't the warnings clear enough?

We have to ask all of you to respect the instructions without exception. Do not expect College Confidential to keep on deleting posts that could endanger YOUR scores. It is up to you. However, please be aware that we will not tolerate blatant disregard of the instructions, and that repeated offenses will result in permanent banning!

so when are we allowed to speak about the ap-english exam.. dont they give you like a 48 hour limit or something.. so that would be like tommorow, is that right? b/c im dying to talk about the essays

But we're never supposed to speak of multiple choice...Never...

Yeah the essays in 48 hours but never for the MC. My protor told us that our tongues would fall off if we did. Seriously.

abena301

Our proctor said that there are obviously AP secret police watching us..

dang it. well we can talk about the essays tommorow :). Yall taking any other ap's?

so did u guys the irony in the first essay?... its been 48 hrs this is legal guys.(only for the esaays)

damn, those essays were kinda hard. I think I did ok on the first and the third, but the second one I'm a little iffy about. and longhorn, what about the irony in the first essay?

pink flamingos reflected america's coming out of the depression...and some such, i can't quite remember the question... expository im pretty sure, can't quite remember much about it.

The second one was a persuasive about money and had a gigantic use of Syntatic Permutation with a "Freight Train" style of writing which pretty much attacked the reader with evidence. Ironic how money seems to be more of a burden than its worth...something along those lines...

Third i wrote about leaders such as MLK, Ghandi, and the John Galbraith who were all leaders in their fields/movements...

1st essay: I talked about how she has a sarcastic tone to basically mock the materialism based society first empowered during the 50s...and how pink is really surperficial and blah blah

2nd essay: Umm...i talked about how it was 3 sentences long like everyone else probably did. Luckily, I had just learned the name of the rhetorical device used in the 2nd sentence when I studied from the Kaplan book in Borders the night before =D..an anaphora. yep. and i don't remember what else i talked about...

3rd: I had only like 20 minutes to write this one T_T. I wrote about Oprah...lol.

1st essay- didn't quite understand what they were asking for - just overloaded rhetorical terms and noted punctuation
2nd essay- there wasn't much to write about. Just anaphora and the fact that it was only 3 sentences long, lol. My essay was barely over a page long.
3rd essay- I wrote about radio broadcasts and their impact on the Civil Rights Movement (yeah, I'm taking the APUSH on Friday, as well :-P)

1st: I think the big thing that it was full of puns.... "Flocking" "Staking' "Flamboyant" there were so many. Talked about the discontent of the author that americans folowed trends blindly and were all new money.
2nd: Parallel structure? Length of life and the desperate-ness that the author was trying to convey. I thought he had a serious/ironic tone but some said he was mocking.
3rd: I wrote about the Dutch Comics and South Park. haha

ahah i freaking love south park. go colorado.

im taking ap us history friday too. im reviewing by myself (since my teacher is an a-hole and doesnt ever even talk about the exam) and im not even at the civil war yet ... T_T im so screwed

o yeah and for the 2nd essay, i talked about how he speaks in 2nd person and how that affects the reader more...does that seem right?

1 - I talked about the how the author had a slight disdain in American culture.. How flamingos dealing with wealth and leisure was more or less overrated. Like a fad / sense of gaudyness / etc. America was moving forward, just not in the best / reasonable way.

2 - I went on a rant about illustration/narration, cause and effect, and anaphora/parallelism. Hated this. Totally BSed it ahha.

3 - I used lots of general examples.. Talked about how freedom of speech is great, but too easy to sway people's opinions (so that people don't even think for themselves).. I had a spree on criticism.. did anyone else criticize?

my school is giving both AP english and AP US may 18th. just warning you guys that you might just be shooting yourselves in the foot by not following the confidentiality of the APs.

you guys must get the late test format miranda. it will be different than what they are talking about.

1st Essay: Talked about..damn. I can't remember. :) About the depression in contrast with the leisurely 50s and the flamingo as a symbol of frivolity. Talked about diction, the way the writer utilized facts/quotes to back herself up, and one more thing that I can't remember but it was my best point.
2nd Essay: Syntax, of course. Paragraph on overly negative diction selection, and irony in the ending paragraph, which is where I mainly tied in the author's views of money.
3rd Essay: I didn't like mine. I thought it was unoriginal..I wrote about how dissenting voices are in actuality patriotic and how public statements of opinion in the media (used pop culture examples like the Dixie Chicks, Green Day, Jon Stewart) are the best way to reach a wide audience, etc.

Yeahh..I don't think I failed, but I don't know that it was superb haha.

to Airu

i argued against the position in the 3rd essay as well; i said the value of public opinion is undermined by media manipulation, so it's neither free nor honest, something like that. i sounded really angry and immature cuz i was so mad that i couldn't write anythin for the first 2 essays...lol
