AP English Language vrs. SAT II English Lit

I am taking AP English Language, both the class and the test, and I also signed up for the SAT II for English Lit because it seems to be similar to the AP English Language test. I was wondering if I can just study for both at the same time or if the SAT II is so obscenely different that it would require a different book?

Any thoughts?

They test two different elements of writing.

I got a 4 on AP English Language and an 800 and SAT 2 English Lit. I think they are different, though of course they both test your ability to communicate. I would definitely buy a book for the SAT 2–I used Barron’s–since getting used to the format of the exam is very important. The AP exam seems to depend more on your actual ability than on how accustomed to the exam you are; I would prepare by just reading lots and lots of good books and taking interesting writing classes.

Some schools will only give you credit for one or the other.

I didn’t know there were schools that gave credit for SAT2s…

Thanks everyone. I took a practice test for the SAT II English Lit today and did quite well on it so with some practice I should get even better. I will definitely check out the Barrons one.
