I'l doing a self study, and i went to some teachers' websites, and some of them have EXTENSIVE vocab lists, it scary. How uch vocab?
also, for the new SAT, with analogies gone but sentence completions still there, how much vocab should i now? what level, considering the barron's 4,000 word list?
Thanks!!

the SAT is supposed to test ur understanding of vocab..

AP English Language is supposed to test how well you understand the principles of writing so the vocab shouldnt be as challanging..

Focus more on review grammar and literary terms..

i'd say the more vocab you know the better for SATs...

A large vocabulary is very helpful on the AP English test considering that a lot of the readings are very difficult. However, at this time, I think that it's too late for you to study vocab. The test is only a month away!!! At this time, you should instead study rhetorical strategies.

if you are able to cram successfully... it is possible to memorize vocab.

I find that I've already learned most of the content in the AP test. And those huge lists of literary terms are less intimidating once you look at what they mean -- you already know over half of what those terms mean, you just didn't know the term for it until now.

For the english language test, you don't really need to study vocab because if you are a good student, you should be able to understand all the passages. You need to concentrate on learning how to write well, and learning literary terms and rhetorical strategies as vtoodler and variance2004 said.
