AP English Lit Thoughts

Damn too bad the only book I read in that class was Their Eyes Were Watching God.... I know I did sh***y... MC and that second essay kicked my ass

soooo... were we supposed to start each new essay on a new page?... and if i didn't... does it matter or no?

I doubt it matters if you started a new essay on a different page

The only two books I've read for class in last three years were on the list for #3. I'm pretty sure I got a 4 or a 5.

I didn't use a book on the list. Our teacher told us the list didn't really matter.

what's the curve for a 5?

I didn't like the MC too much...but essays were freakin cake. I feel like i def got 8-9's, 7 at the worst on them..but MCs...errrrrr.

For those interested, MC counts 45% of grade, essays 55%.

I used Ethan Frome. Luckily I'd reviewed it so much last nite, I was able to embed several quotes from the novel.

i felt like it was too easy and am not expecting a high score cause i didn't ACE IT....

i feel like there are others who prolly did better than me... so the curve is going to work against me this time.

idk if this counts as discussing the question on the free response, but i was surprised the kite runner came up as one of the books suggested.. since it just came out a few yrs ago.

Third essay was good, the first and second were kind of..iffy..I don't think I really knew what I was talking about. I mean, I don't think anything I wrote was incorrect, but you never know. MC was okay, I guess, nothing unexpected. I'm just glad it's over! Now in class we'll just read books and discuss them together..no more homework! Oh and we're supposed to watch Hamlet from The Simpsons :)

Yeah it was good except for like 3 MCs I should have probably left blank. But whatever.

My S said he sailed through the essays with time to spare. Absolutely loved them. Felt pretty confident on the MC, too. Figures a 4 at the minimum.

Zebes

ughhh...i must say that the whole urban legend bout 'B' being harder than 'A' is def true. Lit was okay, i just didn't really get into the second essay. MC was surprisingly easy

it was kinda hard to talk about the prose essay....... i was so desperate i said something stupid like... their relationship was connected, like the lakes. but then i crossed it all out.

Prose essays were good. Actually, all the essays were pretty easy.

Only thing was the MC. I didn't like some of the poetry...

I think I passed it, MC was much easier than normal, essays went decent for me.

I thought the test was very very easy. The MC questions were pretty much all knock-offs; I only skipped one question that I couldn't figure out. I actually finished MC with 5 minutes to go back over and check the 2 or 3 questions I wasn't sure about.

As for the essays, I beasted essay 1, wrote like 4 pages; essay two definitely wasn't into the whole father/son bonding theme...found myself rambling after a while, so I just started talking about the fishing rod and its importance..blah blah blah

The third essay was justing starting to get good, but the admin. called time and I only had 2 and a half pages. definitely could've done more with more time. Used Their Eyes were Watching God.

Overall, I think I couln't've gotten less than a 4. A five is not out of the question, but given the fact that everyone found the test easy, doubtful.

I'm kinda kidding but I wanted to use a book I actually liked (ie. Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc). If you really think about it, you could use Harry in the prompt we had... My essay would actually make sense. I ended up using another book (Great Expectations) but felt it was poorly written and sorta made up a plot line I don't think actually existed. Oh and the poetry sucked. Really was hard to interpret...
