how much do they care about essay length? for the second one I wrote a little under 1.5 pages because I had so little time left... is there any chance of a 6 on it? I didn't just summarize the plot and I tried to put in as much possible with the time I had left.

Im hoping for a 4 but won't be surprised with a 3 due to the curve rumors and my 2nd essay.

I did the book Atonement, by Ian McEwan, for the third essay...I just read it this year, and it was near the top of the list. MC was very easy, although there were a couple iffy questions...I think I memorized all of the MC questions, so if anybody wants to, er, have a casual and fully legal conversation, PM me.

I owned the first and last essays (used 1984 btw) but the 2nd one was crazy boring. I spent as much time trying to pay attention while reading as I did actually writing the essay.

I used Things Fall Apart by Chinhua Achebe on the open question!!! Definitely a 5 on this test I'm thinking, no problem. I would be suprised if I got less than a 7 on any of the essays and the MC was fairly easy so I could have missed maybe 10 at most.

i thought a fair amt of the MC were iffy and free response was ok. I used Unbearable Lightness of Being, and I really liked my essays so I hope the AP graders do too....

i know it depends on the curve, but let's say worse comes to worst, i get like 10-14 MC wrong and if I can get at least a 7 on each of my essays, u guys think my chances at a 5 are ok?

I'm confident. I feel better walking out of this than I have after the several mocks we've done (all of which I've managed a 5... well within in the range of error for teacher bias). The MC is, of course, up in the air... it can be tricky. I really don't know how I did, but I feel confident I got around 80 percent correct. It's difficult to gage. The first essay was easy considering poetry isn't my strength.... the second was (very) easy for prose... and the open prompt was pleasant surprise (especially compared to last year's awful prompt). I think I should be able to earn at least 7s on the essays. I really hope I get a 5.... I've yet to get one in any AP class. I feel confident that I have a very solid chance...

im doomed... i skipped like 10 MC Qs because I didnt understand that poem... i really hope i get a 3.....do u guys think i have a chance??

the free response... i think i didnt ok on the first 2........our school is like retarded.... because we had to take an IB exam after it.. our proctor is like oh ya people who are taking the IB exam later u guys have to leave... and that was like 20 mins from the end time... i was really worried about my IB diploma but didnt wanna leave because i only started on the third essay!! so i got really distracted........ well i guess my situation is better than this kid's.. he listened to her.. went out... and came back and was like no... we dont have to turn it in now can i have it back..
-______- stupid proctor..

I wrote the sweetest pink flamingoes essay last year...

This year it was definitely less involved...I felt like I was cruising through it. Way too long, though...I think I had in total an hour of extra time.

^Ditto Monkeyjoint! A classmate of mine saw better symbolism but I don't think it's safe to go into it yet, or the mean mods will rid you of your posting priviledges...

I really liked the open-ended FR. I used 1984; no one else mentioned that book, why not? It's perfect for the prompt. I'm confident I got a 4, but it could be a 5.

I was really surprised at how easy the MC was, for the most part. I thought the first poem and the last poem were a little hard though.

I used Tess of the d'Urbervilles for the third free response question. I feel pretty good about everything - I'll be really surprised if I don't get a 5 on this. After the beast that was Calc yesterday, I'd damn well better.

MC = pretty easy. only left 1 blank, finished like 15 minutes early.

1st essay: I think I pretty much owned it. predicting about an 8, maybe a 7 at the lowest. wrote like 4-5 pages, no kidding.

2nd essay: did this one last because when I first read it I was like what the f?!? and skipped to #3. Not that great. Maybe a 5 or a 6?

3rd essay: wrote about Tess of the D'urbervilles, along with about 90% of the kids in my english class. Too much plot summary in 1st body paragraph but I caught myself and improved in the 2nd paragraph. Maybe a 6 or 7?

apparently the grading standards are kind of low for this test: in my class everyone read about 20 actual essays, got into groups and gave each essay a grade from 1-9 and compared it with the actual grades. Total piece of crap essays passed, mediocre ones with too much plot and not enough meaning got 8s and 9s.

So normally I'd think I pulled a 4 but maybe I got a 5. I was hoping for a 5 because my teacher had been telling me that the test was pretty easy and I could get a 5. Normally I just want to do better than passing and it's not as if my test grade will matter much anyway (I'm going to a private college next fall), it was just a goal of mine. If I get a 4 I'll be kind of disappointed but it's not a big deal.

This was such a nice break from the Lang test last year. I was happy I actually understood all the passages in the MC, unlike last year. The writing was much easier than I expected. No flamingos, thank God. I hated that essay. The fact I could write more than 2 pages on each of the questions was a good sign =). I did Wuthering Heights. Such an essay prompt for the book! I was very happy after doing more difficult prompts for that book. However, only me and 2 other people out of 50ish read Wuthering Heights while everyone else read a different book, and that was the only one we read in class on the list haha.
