I used a book on the list, but I'm not sure if I wrote about the right thing. I was just really sick of writing essays by the end, so I think my third one is the worst one, even though it should've been the easiest. I think I summarized and rambled a little too much. What's funny is that time wasn't a problem for me at all; I finished with enough time to proofread my essays.

I thought the other two FRQs were godsends. I was really afraid I'd have to analyze a poem that went completely over my head.

MC was significantly easier than the practice tests I took from REA. I was getting 20+ wrong out of 60 on those tests, but I'm confident that I did decently well on the MC today. Also finished early with plenty of time to spare.

yea i believe my first one could be 7-8 while my third is either a 6 or a 7
the second one i did not finish i was only 3 paragraphs in, although those 3 paragraphs were solid 8 quality

how would the incompleteness of this essay affect its grade?

TapedDuck, my general impression is that as long as you know what you're talking about (evidence, quality of ideas, etc), you won't be penalized if your essay isn't littered with literary devices. I'm pretty sure that readers don't read these essays looking for key words. And from some of the 9 essays I've read, it seems like even those people didn't use too many literary terms.

I wrote at least three sides for each essay, and my handwriting's fairly small. So I think 2.5 sides is a decent length. Apparently, the last FRQ is supposed to be longer than the others because you're familiar with the book you're writing about.

However.. I thought this year's Lit test was harder than the Lang last year.. when I tell people that, they give me this "***" look.. most people I talked to found it pretty easy.

First FR was pretty good. I didn't quite develop everything to the extent I wanted to, but it was definately passable.

Second FR, knocked that out. That one was solid.

Third FR, I used Handmaid's Tale. Asking the others in my group, it was scattered between Handmaid's Tale, In Country and Madame Bovary. Hell, somebody even did Merchant of Venice (which I think is a stretch...but they made it work I think).

MC->easier than practice exams but i usually bombed MC on practice exams
essay 1->poem essays are tough for me, this was a bad essay and im conjecting a 6
essay 2->easy prompt probably receiving an 8
essay 3->used Cold Mtn as my book. its a good essay and pretty unique so it should receive a high 8/low 9

im expecting a 4 which i will he happy with. ap physics is gonna pwn me so hard monday

MC: super easy.
Essays: even more super easy.
As you'll notice from my earlier post I was on here before taking the exam and saw people say it was easy so I wasn't that surprised, but I was still happy XD And I seriously, seriously loved those essay prompts. I mean, I usually can NEVER write good concise essays, so I always run out of time (I can write well... but I take forever and a day doing it). This time I ended each of my essays PERFECTLY at the 40 minute time. And I covered everything I meant to cover in each, and I really feel they are 8/9s, at the very least 7s. (The major thing we learn in my class with regards to AP is how to grade them, so I'm pretty sure I'm not lying to myself, unless I seriously misinterpreted one of them XD)

Jenz--I used Ethan Frome and so did about half my class. It's one of the 8 books we covered in detail this year, so yeah xD
And (too lazy to find who said this) I was surprised by the Kite Runner too! That's SUCH a new book! (sadly not new enough for me to use, I read it last year and I did not remember anywhere near enough to make an essay from it... so unoriginal ethan frome for me!)

3rd question always has potential to ramble, its tough to find that delicate balance between answering the prompt and proving you know the entire plot

bobbo, if it makes you feel better, I have the worst world history teacher in the world ;) And we didn't "go over them in detail" so much as have them assigned to read as well as summary cards, and this last week before the AP test we've been presenting the information from the books (from our little cards.)

Hmm, if any future lit test takers are reading this, MAKE CARDS WHEN YOU READ :D So helpful for review!!!
(we had title, author, main characters, setting, main theme, main conflicts (manvs man, man vs society, man vs himself, etc), summary, and two quotes.)

I used Beloved on the third, that question was seriously made for it. Most kids in my class used that, but some used Cry, The Beloved Country. One girl used The Color Purple.

First essay was ok.

Second Essay was...blah. I wrote it last, and it was thorough, but man...boring.

I'm a freak and used Watership Down for the third essay. Yeah, that's right, I wrote about a book told completely from the point of view of rabbits. Everyone else in my school used Heart of Darkness or Death of a Salesman.
The first and second essays weren't so bad, I thought. The poems were almost deceptively simple, and the passage was a complete cliche.
I always manage to freak myself out on the MC, though, so I'll see how that goes. I always find the questions vague and manage to get evidence for more than one answer, then end up having to go with my gut. It's usually right, but still...it makes me worry.
