how do we do a chat?

My second paragraph of question 2 is the biggest piece of BS I have ever written in my life.

I thought MC was tougher than old exams I've taken. Essays were relatively easy, compared to prior ones, but I botched the lens out of nerves.

My whole third essay (I have read two books on their list for that question, both a really long time ago) was the biggest piece of BS I have ever written.

Kite Runner? How do they classify that as having Literary Merit (especially when it's placed next to King Lear). That's like allowing us to consider writing about Harry Potter.

I thought my third essay was my best one. Luckily, our English class wrote an essay with almost the same exact prompt and so I just rewrote it pretty much.

The MC was way way way easier than I expected. I usually can't eliminate any choices for about 80% of the exam (yes, I'm that bad), but on this I could answer about 40/55 with decent confidence. Maybe our teacher just used really hard tests. I don't know where he got them.

I probably got like a 5-6 on question 1, a 4 on question 2, and maybe (hopefully) a 7 on question 3.

Just for the heck of it, these were the books I had ready to use for the essay:
The Scarlet Letter
Gulliver's Travels
Death of a Salesman
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
1984
and to a lesser degree, The Lord of the Flies.

I used one of them. Guess which one! (You'll probably guess wrong... Remember, my third essay was pure, steaming BS...)

Anybody know what the first poem was? The one about Love and the lover, it began something like "Since none can help us", or something like that. On another note, I thought the MC was really easy - definitely a lot easier than what I had been preparing with in class. The essays were alright, I used One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest for the third essay.

Did you use the Indian or the nerdy guy (forgot his name...)

I used Huck Finn for the third essay.

General scoring guidelines (I think this is from CB):

[#correct - .25 x #wrong] x 1.2272 = weighted section I score
[essay score Q1 + essay score Q2 + essay score Q3] x 3.0556 = weighted section II score

weighted section I score + weighted section II score = composite score

Composite score range*:
108-150 = 5
94-107 = 4
75-93 = 3
47-74 = 2
0-46 = 1

*The candidates' scores are weighted according to formulas determined in advance each year by the Development Committee to yield raw composite scores; the Chief Faculty Consultant is responsible for converting composite scores to the 5-point AP scale.

Is that chatroom still alive? How do I join?

I thought the test was waaaaaaaay easier than I thought it would be...and I suck at English! :) I expect a 4 because my last essay was BS.

Is it possible for me to get a 4:

skipped 14 multiple choice...5-6 wrong
6,7,7-8 on the essays

I'm in the APENGLIT chatroom, if anyone wants to join/talk

what happens if you write your essays in pencil? automatic dq?

I liked the the last passage from the MC was from one of my favorite books.

victorm - the poem is by Michael Drayton "Since there's no help, come let us kiss and part"

machinegungeek - I'm guessing not Death of a Salesman, since you say your essay was pure BS? I wrote about DoaS since I felt it fit really well with the question.

I know we're not allowed to talk about the test, but am I allowed to ask what a certain word meant in context as long as I don't state what that context was? There was one word in one of the texts for the first two essays that I didn't know, but when I looked it up in multiple dictionaries it didn't make much more sense.

I totally BSed my last essay too, except not that successfully...I took way too much time with the first, did the second in maybe half an hour or so, and then had 10-15 minutes to write the third (I had done some planning before though). It wasn't too bad for that amount of time, but it was definitely the part on which I did the worst.

i think i owned that test!

i did my last essay on frankenstein and i think it was amazing, but that test is really draining.
