Kudos to all that took the exam today. My D should be finishing it up about now.
Last passage was easiest for me. 3rd question for FRQ was most challenging for me.
I am drained I-) . Pretty relieved that the works weren’t too bad. I’m glad i actually understood all of them
Lmao who else wrote about Frankenstein for 3rd frq?
Second essay was hardest for me, was my last one and could not think of what to write.
1st essay was hardest for me, which is strange because Poetry is usually my best subject. Prose was strong, so was novel essay. MC was easier than expected. I used All the Pretty Horses for FRQ 3. The least passage on the MC was my strongest.
I think 2nd essay was hardest for me, but all in all I think I did really well. Poetry essay was fine for me, and the open question was practically written for Frankenstein. MC wasn’t bad at all, I’ve practiced with much harder questions.
Don’t feel too great. Guess I’ll just wait to hear back in July! Thought multiple choice was bearable, poetry essay was pretty solid, prose was a nightmare and open-ended was accessible
Same here w/ the second essay being the hardest. I wrote 3.5 pages on it and literally still have no idea what it means
I ended up using gatsby for the third prompt bc I knew it better than those on the list and loved Q1 on the FRQ
I’m pretty much right with you @Falconsroach7 MC in hindsight may have been better than what I felt during the test, but my FRQs are right with you with Frankenstein as my open-ended.
i thought it was decent! completely bombed the second prompt but i thought the first one was fine. wrote about kite runner for the last one
Wrote about the boy from Araby in “Dubliners” for the third one.
Does anyone know if the first prompt specifically wanted you to discuss memories? I discussed the relationship between the poet and music through soft diction and nostalgic imagery and concluded that their relationship serves as a medium through which the poet and the her loved ones share a unique, exclusive, one-of-a-kind connection. I mentioned memories zero times. Did I misread the prompt??
As someone who’s always been naturally good at English, this test was a joke to me. I missed a maximum of 12 MC questions (almost certainly less), and I did well on all of the FRQ’s. I must be odd, because I found the prose passage to be the easiest one! But that’s because analyzing difficult things is pretty much second nature to me. I used Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead for the last prompt, and was honestly surprised that it wasn’t among the recommended list.
@Lospitarrrre The prompt didn’t have the word memories in it, so I think it’s up to the person writing the essay if they want to talk about memories or not. (I’m a student too so I can’t say for sure.)
What did the prompt say to do exactly? If it wasn’t prompting you to write about memories then where did the idea of writing memories come from? My friends all said they wrote about memories and told me that was what you were supposed to do. The sheer amount of people who wrote about memories makes me think that’s what the directions were prompting you to do.
Many (including myself) inferred that because the memories contribute very heavily to certain themes. But if it’s not directly stated, it shouldn’t be necessary. I’d argue it would be preferable to mention memories, but surely it’s not a requirement.
@RandomGuyy17
But is the word “memories” even stated anywhere in the directions or the prompt?
@Lospitarrrre Not that I recall, though my memory is as fallible as anyone’s.
@RandomGuyy17
Alright, what were the direcions for Q1?
