is there a possibility of a 5 even if I bombed prompt 3?

You'd probably have to get a raw score of 45+ on MC and get 8-9s on the other two essays.

i liked the MC, minus the first passage (didn't realize what it was really saying until the last question; had to redo)

poetry essay was good times (8-9, a 7 if my reviewer hates me)

totally blanked on what to do on the prose essay when i flipped the page! went back and did it at the end... considering my initial reaction, it might be one of my better essays (oh, the irony!) (7-8)

:P one guess as to what i did for the open-ended. ironically, not my favorite prompt. (6ish)

I was feeling so good about the MC, why did the open ended essay have to blow EVERYTHING?

haha - nice book choice. i liked it but it was a little confusing for me when i read it. i used one flew over the cuckoo's nest, which fit really well.

ooo, i agree, crypto; it's rough to get into (but then you bite into the tootsie roll center and it's awesome).

Pretends 48 hours have gone by

MC: Eh...much better than Barron's. But that last passage...oh boy. I never know if I do well or not on these things.

Essay 1: Hmm..kind of BSed. Poems aren't my thing, especially not those. My construction of compare/contrast went back and forth cuz I kept changing my mind about the poems, but whatever. (2 or so pages)

Essay 2: Wrote about tone, diction, title, point of view, and imagery. I loved the passage, so this one went fairly well for me. (3+ pages)

Essay 3: Well, they didn't explicitly say that you couldn't use The Awakening. So I did. And I wrote a pretty damn spiffy essay (with quotes) so they know I didn't BS. At least that's what I'm hoping. (4 pages)

... I thought you couldn't use the work given in the prompt... OMG... ::slaps own face two hundred and forty times::

First 45 MC were soooo easy, i doubt i got more than 2 wrong, but last 10 were insane, I probably got 4-5 wrong on just them. I loved the 1st MC passage and 1st MC poem I had read the year before.

1st poem prompt was pretty good, hopefully I picked the things they wanted
2nd prose prompt was i think i did well
3rd open prompt was very easy, i did portrait artist (i had just read a month ago)

I felt really scared going into this test, but after taking it I feel I have a solid 4. :)

..Did anyone use Heart of Darkness for the prompt in essay 3?

haha spyder, weren't you the one complaining about joyce last night?
:D i tollllld you, portrait's good times

lol, yeah i was thinking of you while I was writing it! :D I was going to do doll's house, but I have to admit portrait just worked so perfectly. (but i still hate the book ;))

Mods - if you can please delete my posts I would appreciate it greatly - I think they are too revealing now that I look at them.

I used Lords of Discipline (Pat Conroy) for my open ended. Hopefully the readers will like reading something different than Cuckoos Nest, 1984, etc... Lords of Discipline fit great with the topic.

i loved lords of discipline... you're right, it would fit well with that prompt.

Whew...glad someone else has read it
Its not well known, but I think its been on the Lit exam before
I just know that book like the back of my hand and I figured the readers would get tired of essays on the SAME books

How did Heart of Darkness work for the 3rd one?

lets discuss the subjects! ;)

j/k

are we allowed to discuss the exam?
[/quote]
NO, not until 48 hours after the test. We are never allowed to discuss MC.

I'm a lucky one. I had previously read three of the works from which the passages came from on my very own...it was such a breeze.

Whats the cuttoff for a 5?
