AP English Literature

I will be taking a mock AP Lit test tomorrow.

Are there any strategies/tips that I should know?

Study Lit Terms

Make sure your essays are well structured and organized. Do not waste excess time on your introduction. Start out with a clear thesis and work your way into body paragraphs that revolve around central ideas. Make sure to start out strong and maintain focus. Do not ramble and have clear topic sentences. Use advanced diction.

In other words, write the best you can.

MC do not over analyze. Read the passage carefully and go with the answer that has textual support, not simply what "appears correct."Look for textual clues and understand the nuances, but focus on the main points and their connections.

Hope this helps…good luck.

Tips? Thanks

Want to know about this too. Especially the poetry part. Any good guide books?

In the poetry parts, they usually tell you what to focus on… like they say “pay attention to rhyme, …” so I always try to hit all of those. In addition, it’s important to say how these lit devices add meaning to the poem. I’m really nervous about the AP test-- it’s like the day after tomorrow! And I just hope a good book turns up on the test and that my hand won’t be dead.
