Yeah that math one with the corals totally stumped me. I skipped the first one and attempted the other two

^basically the same for me. I think I MIGHT have gotten parts ii and iii on letter c of that question, but part i I “attempted” as well by writing random numbers from the table adn doing fake multiplication lol.

The 1998 exam on the college board website was ridiculously easy, that one today, i thought was really difficult. The MC and FRQ… :(

Math FRQ
Corals Stuff (NOTE: ALL ANSWERS ARE PER YEAR)
- Volume = 7.510^8m^3 (.003m)(2.510^11m^2)
- Mass = (7.510^8m^3)(210^3kg/m^3) = 1510^11 kg
- 20% of = (1510^11 kg)(.2) = 310^11 kg

Those are the right answers. I have all the other math ones memorized too if you want them.

^I don’t agree with your number three…but I’m gonna stay on the safe side and tell you why in two days :P

w/e lets compare answers, its not like we’re not getting the frqs back in 3 days nyways

-Freshwater problem - answer i put was “the creation/expansion of cities in area with low rainfall”. Pretty certain thats right.

-The EM spectrum on the Earth is mostly what?
It was asking what part of the spectrum living things use most. I put visible.

-What two factors determine how fast a landfill decomposes (something like that)? Aeration and moisture? <----Thats what i put

For these next two I was 50-50 between two choices:
-Something about what ESA entails/is. “Only applicable to federal lands”, or “based on biological data”. This one i picked the bilogical data answer.

-Integrated Pest Management: using “a variety of techniques” or “eliminating synthetic and inorganic pesticides.” Wikipedia gives both answers -_-
I put varriety of techniques…but its a guess

3 asked by what quantity would the yearly mass decrease by 20XX. It didnt ask for what the mass would be that year.

pretty sure the EM question was asking about the what form the sun’s rays took, which would be mostly ultraviolet.

Ehh, I’d disagree. Isn’t most of the radiation visible light? The UV rays are absorbed by the stratospheric ozone layer.

Also, in b4 getting screwed over by College Board for talking about the MC and FRQs?

"-Freshwater problem - answer i put was “the creation/expansion of cities in area with low rainfall”. Pretty certain thats right.

after talking it over with my friends, i think these are the two that we disagreed on most…and others seem to disagree on the EM spectrum one. opinions?

I’m not sure anymore. You have me questioning myself. Do you remember the exact wording of the EM one?

@withparanoia
Yea I got the same answers as you

and idg why we cant discuss for 2 days… its not like people in hawaii stillll havent taken the test!

it’s comforting to know that everyone else had so much trouble…also did anyone know what on earth those diseases were in the beginning of the mc? i knew dysentery, and that was it…

The MC was harder than I thought it would be. FR was easy as usual except for that math problem, I skipped it, but came back to it with only 10 minutes. Yeah I didn’t get the diseases either.

minamito was the mercury poisoning. what was dysentry…along with the rest? and which one of the diseases wasn’t used?

Redsox, you got the math for #3 wrong. GG.

I got the exact same math answers as redsoxrbest.

he/she got #3 right. it asked for the difference, which is equal to 20% of the total quantity, which he/she correctly calculated

damn it never mind sorry AHHAHAHA

Thanks APchemistry. I think they just threw #3 in there to be confusing because it was worded really oddly.

@dfire28: Aswan Dam -> schistosomiasis
Fatty Build up ->atherosclerosis
Sewage into rivers -> Dysentary

Mesothelioma was unused (formaldehyde causes it, just fyi)
