AP Environmental Science Review

pretty much copied the psychology thread, :P
lets do cause/effect type of things--solutions to problems, because those appear on the FRQ all the time.
who's with me?
ok i'll start,

Give 2 reasons why deforestation occur and explain its consequences.
1. Population growth--demand for energy, so logging trees etc....
2. hm. population growth-- urbanization..needs more land??

deforestation leads to loss of biodiversity, soil erosion..

your turn!

Okay…

Here’s an easy one.

Name the various parts of the earth’s atmosphere and states which one contains the ozone layer.

Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, Thermosphere, Exosphere…

Stratosphere has ozone layer.

:)
why do people prefer coal-burning to nuclear ones for electricity?

come on ,get this goin!

Coal is cheaper and not radioactive.

Describe the municipal water treatment process.

Primary treatment - screens large particles, removes 20% BOD
Secondary treatment - manages active sludge, aeration, removes 40-70% BOD
Advanced treatment - chemical treatment of water, chlorination

What effect would a rise in sea levels have on human popularions AND coastal ecosystems?

Humans on coastal areas would have to move inland, increasing crowding, and coastal land ecosystems would be harmed because part of it would be underwater, while coastal water ecosystems would grow

Explain 2 concerns associated with nuclear energy
