I self-studied for AP Euro this year, but will be taking the exam next year (due to a big scheduling mix-up in my school). I found that while many people consider this to be one of the more challenging APs, it is more a matter of the amount of material you have to cover.

If you feel confident in your writing skills, particularly in history areas, you will probably be fine. Just start studying a lot early than you think necessary (I would recommend late in the fall if you are starting without any euro background, personally). It was much easier (for me, at least) to learn the material over a longer period of time.

Good Luck!
