I just bought a test prep book for AP Euro called “5 Steps to a 5.” Has it been helpful to anybody? And how did you do on the exam? Any other suggestions?

I bought the same book last year, along with the Crash Course. I had pretty much no idea what I was doing until I started studying for the exam, and history is my worst subject, AND it was my first AP, but I still got a 4 :D

Did you find one more helpful than the other?

I just got that same book. It is much better then the Barron’s series in my opinion. The back is also awesome for practice tests.

I think I found 5 Steps to a 5 more helpful, but I also read that one more thoroughly.
Reading the Crash Course really helped me on general areas that I was confused about, and the 5 Steps to a 5 helped me learn details. It probably helped the most to take a ton of practice tests (I took about 8 by borrowing various books and CDs from people) and review the answers. I only did like 2 practice essays but I got lucky by getting a thematic that I really knew a lot about. It’s nice to know certain topics to a great degree if you are bad at history like I am; that’s how I did so well on that thematic (it was about Charles Darwin and Sigmund Freud).

thanks for the suggestions!
