AP French exam this year or next year

I am currently in AP French 4 in a school were AP french is a 2 year consecutive course (AP french 4 and 5). I just heard about the changes to the french exam going into place next year, and i don't like them. So I want to take the ap exam this year, but I'm worried I won't be well enough prepared, because most people take the exam after ap french 5. If I take the exam next year I will be better prepared. So do I take the exam that I am better at and like more (grammar oriented- current), but not well prepared for or do I take the exam next year, because I am better prepared?

If I were you, I’d wait and take it next year. Yes, it won’t be as grammar intensive, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a grammar component on the exam.

I looked at sample questions for the new exam (go to [AP French Language and Culture - Advances in AP | The College Board](<a href=“About AP – AP Central | College Board”>About AP – AP Central | College Board) and click on the course description) and the new exam is significantly less grammar intensive. If you really are as good at grammar as you say you are, go for it this year.

Definitely; the new version seems dumbed down when compared to the original exam.
