AP French Study Thread -- 2010 Edition

Wow, so I don’t feel confident at all, and am considering canceling my scores? :[ What would you guys suggest I take into account before canceling?

asha, they’ll give you a zero for not attempting i believe
coup, if you’re a senior just consider that you MIGHT get credit and it doesn’t really matter what you get anyways; if you’re a junior, consider that you can take the exam again next year with more prep. i would cancel only if you feel like you really got a 1 or 2 and you’re a junior

Well, that could have been both better and worse.

It was really easy for me i guess…I just think that I didn’t do so great in the verb fill-ins (totally blanked)…the speaking part (oh god don’t even get me started) and the essay I migh have gotten a good grade…

We’ll see…

Just for me to know: can we cancel our scores after we get them?
Is it shown in the report?

Thanks

i think I did well on most of the sections, but on the speaking, I paused between questions, and then realized that I wasnt supposed to pause until told to do so…I answered all the questions in sequence and I spoke most of the time…i just paused when I stopped speaking, and resumed when the next question was asked…do you guys think Ill get those points taken off??

i love how we all reverted to english again xD
reading composition was horrible.
listening was… okay…
i liked my essay and my speaking was pretty decentish.
grammar was okay too.
it was just… okay lol

I thought I did ok and will be pretty dissapointed if I do not get a 5. The only section that could have screwed me was reading comprehension, but I thought I got a operfect on the listening section.

jelecrois - Okay pretty much sums it up  Could have been (a lot) better, could have been (kind of?) worse…

Yeah, I don’t even wanna talk about this in French…

Good god. The listening and the reading sucked. Badly. I totally blanked on that first dialogue. Haiti and art, really? I thought it was gonna be something cute like applying to college.

The reading was really bad. I just kind of moseyed around and picked whichever sounded the best.

The fill-ins were weird. Was the first one “de?” I thought they would have some more complex stuff like depuis or mien/tien/etc but I guess not…
The verbs were pretty easy. I got the past conditional for falloir, which is really odd…
The essay was fine. Just wrote some crap about etiquette and chivalry. I don’t think I wrote enough though :frowning: Two pages with really big handwriting. Ca ne va pas.

The speaking was actually really easy! I was stressing out about it because I haven’t said more than 10 words of French in my class all year, but I was on a roll! Maybe because the reading was so hard.

I predict 4. I wanted a 5, but I doubt that’s gonna happen.

For all of you who thought the reading was easy, I would like to a) steal your brain and then b) go back to noon of today. Thanks  (Just kidding)

i only missed 7 and 8 questions on the reading comprehension sections that my teacher gave our class for practice. today, however, i left about 10 blank and i probably missed like 5 of the ones i answered!!! what!!!

the rest of the test was easy though, so i hope that saves my score :(

i wanted a five too, but i guess i won’t be mad with a four… i scored high enough on the SAT II to get credit anyway, so its whatevz!

:(
:frowning:
:frowning:
:frowning:
:(

oh, and does this make anyone else mad?!?!?!??!?!

[A.P.French Language and Standardization of all World Language A.P. exams Petition](<a href=“Petition Online - Petition Online has been retired”>Petition Online - Petition Online has been retired)

^ Wow. I wish that’d get passed.

i think I did well on most of the sections, but on the speaking, I paused between questions, and then realized that I wasnt supposed to pause until told to do so…I answered all the questions in sequence and I spoke most of the time…i just paused when I stopped speaking, and resumed when the next question was asked…do you guys think Ill get those points taken off??

I think the fill-ins were more difficult than the ones I had done on AP Central. The listening was pretty easy (I only left 2 blank), and the reading was iffy (I ran out of time, but I got through all the passages and answered all the ones that I could and the ones with 2 answers left). The essay was nice; I wrote about Rosa Parks and the civil rights movement while incorporating Rousseau. Speaking was OK; I never finished the story on the 1st question, but I’d rather run out of time than things to say.

I’ve only studied French for 3 years, and I’m pretty sure I got at least a 3.

I have never been so let down and saddened in my life. I’m the only kid in my school who’s taking two AP languages and I have the highest grades in both classes. I took the SAT2 and got 800 - *** happened today. *** WAS WRONG WITH THE EXCHANGES. *** WAS WRONG WITH THE READING COMPREHENSION. ■■■■. THAT WAS RIDICULOUS. I need motivation to continue living right now. All i freaking wanted to do in my life was go to middlebury with my 2 ap languages with my 5’s on the ap tests THAT I REALLY DON"T THINK HAPPENED TODAY. Ok - please help me break it down. For the exchanges I literally think I got 11/20. I don’t even know. I left some blank. I got some wrong. The dialogues were…ok… so let’s say 17/20. Omg then the reading… I got like 3 wrong in the roman one… I got maybe 2 wrong on the perfume one… I got the eiffel tower one i think pretty much… maybe -1… I literally DID NOT DO - the lieutenant one… I literally left them blank. And for the astronaut one… i just filled in the choices that seemed mostly common sensical. Idk - i honestly think i got 40/82. I really don’t know. I’m so let down. That test wasn’t french it was HELL. The fill ins i did PERFECTLY honestly 29/30 at worst… composition at worst 8/9 and speaking at worst 24/25 (whenever I said pourrais a nervous tick made it sound like pourriez) so yeah. Please help me. Advise me. Does this ruin any chances for a 5. Please inspire me somehow.
Peace.

^I’m taking the French SAT in June. I hope I get an 800 too.
I don’t know, I’m kind of in the same predicament as you (except I didn’t leave any blank, just picked whichever sounded good) - reading comprehension was horrible, listening was kinda bad, speaking was good, and essay/fill-ins alright. I personally don’t think I’m getting a 5 because the curve is so freaking high. But don’t stress (haha I just listened to “Leavin’”), a 4 is still pretty good, yet the flame for me getting a 5 is slowly burning out…

314159265: Wow, that’s a great interpretation of the prompt. Wish I’d thought of that. And I don’t think you get penalized for not finishing the story; they just need an adequate sample of your French.

ppmirmov: Also, any tips for the SAT II French?

tips for sat2… VOCAB VOCAB VOCAB VOCAB VOCAB VOCAB. And like 2 si clauses. just please know vocab. that is literally it. the weirdest words were on it… tousotter… tresaillir… yeah. absorb the dictionary. so again btw… my flame for a 5 should also be extinguished… right? with that bad reading and listening it’s not possible-right?

I’m just ecstatic that the prompt fit the Rousseau quote so well–the “L’homme est ne libre…” quote.

^ My goodness. You’re getting a 9. I wrote about chivalry and it’s okay to be brutally honest to your family but you have to be nice to your bosses and some crap like that. I think I used the subjunctive like 10 times, which is a bit overkill.

ppmirmov: I’m not sure, I just have a really bad feeling about it…
Thanks for the advice, though!
