So, here's the deal: My AP Government and Politics teacher is asking us to buy a mere review book for the course, which will also be used as our textbook throughout the year. I really don't feel comfortable doing this as review books, in my opinion, are meant for REVIEW for the most part and perhaps, better off being used as a supplement to the course. From previous students, anyone who takes his class barely passes so I'm feeling a little concerned.

I'm thinking about caving in and buying my own textbook (I might check with the school first - but it seems unlikely that there are any copies of the textbook). I'm just wondering what textbook (for those who are taken the class or are currently taking it) should I try to get?

Are you taking US or Comparative? I’m taking US and the textbook we use is Government in America: People, Politics, and Policy by George C. Edwards III, Martin P. Wattenberg, and Robert L. Lineberry. My teacher was a former AP Gov reader so I think she knows what she’s doing. D: We also use the Barron’s book for review in combination with the textbook.

I’m taking this class right now as well. I’m using the same book that anagenesis is using. My teacher has taught for years and has a high pass rate. And she has used this book to teach for the past few years. This book also has links to online quizzes and study guides that I have found very useful and that have caused my scores to increase dramatically since I started using them. I would highly recommend this book to anyone taking AP US Government and Politics.
